JURGEN KLOPP pokes fun at NUFC over PL rule change which keeps TINDALL in dugout

Just read the HYENA from LIVERPOOL couldn’t resist a dig at Newcastle United when asked about the latest Premier League rule change.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has poked fun at Newcastle United following the Premier League rule change that prevents more than one person from standing in front of the technical area.

Magpies head coach Eddie Howe and his assistant Jason Tindall have stood side-by-side on the touchline since beginning their coaching careers at AFC Bournemouth. Asked about the rule change on Friday, Howe admitted it was a blow and even joked Tindall might have to be “chained to the dugout”.

“It’s strange that’s been brought in this season,” said Howe. “From our perspective, that’s a blow… we’ve just worked naturally. There’s been no big plan of ours at the start of our careers to work in the way that we do, it’s just naturally evolved.

“We’ve always had that way of working. When the game’s going on I want to help the players as much as I can and I hope to help rather than hinder them by being close to them and trying to be quite active and vocal. And naturally, he joins in.

“There are certain aspects of the game I ask him to concentrate on and he will then in that moment try to help the players too. Only one of us can do that, it’s just something we’ll have to navigate. I think you’ll see quite a bit of rotation from us on the sidelines.

“I think he’ll feel a natural tendency to want to get forward then be told he probably can’t,” Howe added. “We don’t want to see him get sent off so we’ll have to try and get him chained to the dugout!”

Following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea, Klopp was asked for thoughts on the rule change and couldn’t resist a dig at Newcastle. Ther German said: “It’s like that in the Champions League anyway. I think it’s only a problem for one team... Newcastle...”

After a roar of laughter from the Stamford Bridge press room, Klopp smiled and said “sorry!”

The rule was in place for United’s 5-1 opening day win against Aston Villa on Saturday. During the course of the match at St James’ Park, Tindall appeared to be told by fourth official Graham Scott on more one than one occasion to keep his distance from Howe.

“We had some friendly conversations,” Howe revealed after the game. “It is a strange dynamic. It can be a bit petty at times when you are talking inches, but we are just trying to do the best job we can for our players.

“It was managed well today. Me and Jason dovetailed at moments when we felt we needed to.

“The main change is for us not the players. Jason will step forward for set plays and then I will go back to speak to the other staff who are analysing things at a very high pace.”

Now, yes, I know I need to develop a thicker skin over this sort of thing but it really illustrates what we're up against.

Don't discount for a second the possibility that this rule was introduced with us in mind. From clubs lobbying against the takeover to the meeting we weren't invited to to see if there was anything they could do about it, they're trying to either thwart us or slow us down at every turn.

    Bnuch of cunts.
My take on it on another thread.

When you think about it, it shows their fear. Klopp was mocking in his tone and showed himself up, once again, to be a bitter person.
Our owners are showing all other clubs’ owners up and Eddie’s showing up all the other managers. They don’t like it.
They’re desperate for an explanation or an excuse to explain our rapid rise. That we have bought success is the classic (but this lie is waring thin even with the so called pundits).

They thought that the only way for a non big 6 club to challenge them would be through financial clout and so they closed that door. Their arrogance didn’t allow them to foresee a club rising because their owners and managers were smarter and better than them.

In the last 12 seasons there have been 72 top six places positions available. The same 6 clubs have taken these places 70 times - only Leicester City and us last season bring the exceptions. The only question now is whether they want to kick Spurs out of the big six or call it the big 7 because we are here to stay.

Agreed, all we have to do is what we are doing now, and last season, there’s nothing they can do about what happens on the field, unless they say nufc can only have 10 players! I really don’t understand their mentality, why us? They should welcome a new face at the table,I’m sure 90 % of football fans love seeing the challenge to the so called “ top clubs” bring it on.

Best response is none. We are classier. Ignore bad behaviour then they will shout louder with more ridiulous accusations to illicit a response.

    Cnts is right.

This rule has likely been brought in to try and hinder us, I am struggling to work out any other plausible reason.

I think it’s unfair. Why not have no more than 2 in the technical area?

Hope we smash Liverpool. They were crap against Chelsea, but they’ll likely turn up against us. We have got them **** scared.

    Klipperty is a dying star.

I heard some young lad on a podcast somewhere say "He left Dortmund after 7 yrs. Has he reached is shelf life?'

It appears to me that Klopp has spotted a rising star. What better way to remain relevant than to drum up a rivalry with EH and the Toon.

Sell tickets. The 4-3s back once again! haha

However this time always in our favour!

They are howling at the back. Lord forbid VVD has his own Mings Moment. I'm not wishing ill on anyone but pragmatically, they are venerable at the back man.

they shipped 11 in 3 matches in pre-season, 3 or 4 against some German team I've never heard of.

    Take that however you like.

Just in my head, the way we defend, if we to pull off a RCB / LB combo before the window & the WAR CHEST slam shut, I really don't see how Liverpool in their current set up are genuine top 4 contenders.

Watch that comment come back to bite me

I saw what you did there😄.

I thought Salah looked very good in the first half but no-one else made a stand out performance for the bin dippers.

I’ve also heard no official explanation. Mind the refs are sh’t hot on players asking for a yellow card - not just Bruno but there were a couple yesterday too. Good rule change IMO.
