The Islay residents go mad ordering goods online from Amazon and then moan about the late delivery of their mail.
In my opinion the simple solution on Islay is to have a separate parcels delivery service by the Royal Mail with the letter delivery rounds being increased in size to take account of the reduction in the number of letters being delivered.
However that is unlikely to happen as the Royal Mail bosses in Glasgow treat the island of Islay as a place which is out of sight, out of mind.
The posties on Islay never go on strike but a couple of years ago they all arranged to phone in sick on a Saturday morning which meant that no mail was delivered on Islay that day.
It was not much of a loss as at that time our mail was being delivered once a week due to a lack of staff.
So you suggest splitting letters from parcels, that’s one of the reasons we were on strike, there is a shortage of workers but you’d double them, have to deliveries each day to the same addresses, one with letters then another postman at your door 20 minutes later with a parcel, think about that
The anazon thing isn’t just on the isles, it’s all over the country in rural areas, it’s not a level playing field, Royal Mail can’t put parcels into their sytstems but they can dump them on us

jdfc, thanks for trying to explain why postie's are complaining. It's like the RMT. somehow the union leadership thinks that a class war, workers versus bosses type of campaign is essential. It's political and if the unions could get rid of the Tories and have Labour back in government then all their complaints could be solved.

It just isn't like that. The issues are to do with the new working practices that new entrants to the delivery of parcels can use and how they undermine the working practices that Royal Mail has evolved over many years.

How can a sensible thread about cash turnstiles end up being hijacked into one about posties.

Islay can change any thread into a discussion on any subject he chooses without blinking an eye.

This one's unusual really because normally he'll move a thread on any other subject to a discussion on cash turnstiles - he must be diversifying.

Apologies for falling into the trap. Trouble is everyone else says that PATG will never happen because Nelms never changes his mind. Everyone knows that an old school PATG would be a success, even Nelms knows this BUT its success might provide a reason for some to move away from ST down ST sales, and anything that might threaten this must be blocked. Any ST purchase means that regardless of when the game is played, what the weather is like the ST holder is paying. People might start looking at exactly how 0 games they attend each season. A ST might actually provide value for money for people with shift patterns and other influences on their ability to attend. PATG can cost for an OAP 4x20 +14×16=£308. The ST for an OAP sold at the £280. That's a saving of £28, or miss 2 games and you are out of pocket.
I know these numbers are probably only a small consideration for most ST holders but when times are hard and there is a viable PATG option this could be enough to move away from ST holder to PATG. Also Islay, like me, is not an ST holder so making it easy for us to turn up and PATG is a personal preference.

I'd argue people are moving from PATG to non attending because there's no PATG cash and have been for a few years.

The battle ain't season tic (me) v no season tic.

The battle is making it easy to get in Dens v firestick army ( Pravda ).

Don't know who or what the firestick army is Help? I have a firestick but is this what people use for watching DfC games.
Good point about ease of PATG against not going at all. I think Nelms has given up on trying to attract more supporters using good marketing initiatives. Don't think that he sees this as a weakness that he has created. I think it is his lack of support for good communications that is letting this develop. Could be a growing downward trend.
I fear that the very negative opinions expressed about Dee4life on this forum are being interpreted by Nelms as justification for his poor engagement with them.
Instead of rubbishing the answers they have got, is it not a stronger pressure on Nelms if the criticism is directed towards the feebleness of the answers that have been given to Dee4life.
I know that there is a thread about the recent Dee4life communication. Maybe should have made this point on there?
