    Reflections on today

    Quite a chastening experience, really.

On the one hand, we restricted the best team in Europe to a single goal and Pope actually didn't have a lot to do in terms of shot-stopping.

On the other hand, let's be honest, we got nowhere near them tonight. They are a superb team and showed why they're the best but I wish we'd given them more to think about.

My concern going forward is that, in games where we're second best, we don't have that spark to unlock a defence and create a chance out of nothing. i dunno, maybe we do in Anderson but he's not currently a starter.

Trying not to be too negative but...i was kind of expecting a bit more from us tonight.

    Fully agreed Zip.

Perhaps we could have got Isak more involved? Perhaps we missed Willock?

It was ASM that really caused them problems at St James last season.

In the post match interview Eddie thought we were off it technically in the first half. Giving the ball away too often in comfortable positions.

Wilson looked sharp when he came on. Perhaps we need to find a way to get Isak and Wilson on together.

Barnes looked good when he came on. Perhaps Gordon on the right and Barnes on the left is the answer. Interesting to see Livramento come on for Miggy.

On another night we create a few chances and nick a point. As good as City were, they were nowhere near their best tonight.

On an optimistic note, we did better than Real Madrid when they played City!

I'm heading out tomorrow morning for some mushrooms. Might need the big guns.

I thought we were out played and City dominated the midfield. They left BDB with loads of space knowing he’s not creative and that meant they could press our creative players with more men.
I was disappointed with the space Alvarez had for the goal but if you let City play it around your box for too long, it’s a matter of time that they open you up.
Again we didn’t give them enough (anything?) to think about, offensively, in the first half.
Full marks for effort and well played our two CBs but a big reality check and a performance we need to rebound from in the next game.

At the same time considering we fluffed a couple of good chances we could have come away with an undeserved draw.

You still have to admit that Citeh as individuals and collectively as a team are out on their own.

Thought our passing was dogsh!t and Miggy should have been hooked after the first half. Joelinton looked half arsed too.
Hopefully this is a blip against a much superior team.

Joe really did look off it tonight. I was pleased when he came off, though hopefuly it's not a bad injury.

I'd like to see Anderson get a run in the team.

He looked as though he was carrying an injury before the one he got before being subbed.
