Shame about injuries, won't sell Bird now and Ward was looking bright.
Good 3 points though, we're looking good for midtable with current bunch

Not a huge amount of ‘quality’, mac...but lots of grit and determination which was completely missing on Tuesday. So a big improvement and they looked a lot happier with this formation. Thomo was superb in terms of effort...as were Fozzy, Waghorn and Rooney. Nelson and Cashin much improved from Tuesday night and NML looked infinitely happier playing in a wider role.
On the down side...seems like Bird, Wilson and Ward are out until at least late October and when will we ever see some half competent officials? Today’s just seemed inept.

A good win, scrappy performance, Waghorn pops up with a goal and we could and should have had 2 more goals.
Just for context, given the hand wringing and expectation that "mighty" Derby should be at the top end this league, two of yesterdays results stand out for me. Wigans 4-0 demolition of Bolton away and Oxford beating Barnsley 3-1 away.
Much better performance but we still have much to improve. Thommo injected some blood and guts into proceedings, something that was necessary. Bradley can't complain at being dropped as he hasn't played at all well. Rooney on the right, Cash on the left and Nelson (who very easily could have been the one to get dropped) in between the two saw Roons have a good 1st game of the season and both Nelson and Cash were much improved over their previous games.
Waggy is looking good value for money. Got the goal. Should have got a penalty in the opening minute. In the 4 minutes that followed he headed just wide on 2 occasions. Wildsmith had a good game. NML showed why he's a winger and not a #10 or wing back. When defending his tackles are ineffective and when going to challenge a player in possession he, all too often, rushes in at 100 mph and gets beaten by the player, very easily. Wash and Waggy look a good partnership up top which doesn't augur well for Collo.
The 3 players out for 8+ weeks is a bitter blow for an already thin in numbers squad. Not many moaners on tinterwebthingy following the win. Much improved and worth the win. We'll need a bit more improvement to get much at our next 2 games, away at Posh and Bolton, both of whom lost at the weekend. losses that will have spoiled many an accumulator.
