Great idea this. No house moving, easy to keep in contact and be more hands on with players and their development.

Wouldn't it be an idea to send the developing loanees to Gateshead for a season or two.
This would benefit both clubs because unusually for both clubs as locals there is no rivalry or bitterness. it would be great to help Gateshead into the league proper as they are a well run outfit with an up and coming young manager, ex Toon favourite, and a lot of potential and ambition.
From this clubs point of view the youngsters on loan would be still local, both living and playing, and if local, lads close to family ties, and involved with their home club and closer to the development staff here to have an eye on every time they play.
To my mind it would be a win win situation particularly if it helped Gateshead into the 2nd div and all would be playing a better standard of game.

Agreed.
However, I think the feeling would be that they are to low down the pyramid to really help our players.
If they were in League one or two then yes but at the minute. . .
I don't disagree from the pastoral side of it but the actual skill that would support them. . . not sure we'd regard as high enough.
Look at hte players we have sent on loan to the level recently, all of them we've released.
That's why I say help them into the 2nd then who knows how they could progress from there. I n a few seasons they could be having local derbies with Blunderland.
And I am talking about our youngest players at development level. Just look what a good game Gateshead gave us pre season.
There has to be a level that some of the youngsters would fit in at.
