Great interview with Brinds, helped by David Jackson and Nick Richardson asking the questions. This new position for RB, could be another positional masterstroke by LW, alongside Chicks, Macca and AN.

when you achieved something as cathartic as getting Notts County back in the EFL, from a play-off minefield, and been the player to make probably the most amazing contribution to that.

AB dragged us back from the brink against Boreham Wood, that 97th minute equaliser must be one the biggest and amazing goals in the club's long history. And looking at his career so far, it's certainly the peak of what he's done, and he may never top it. IMO, he put an enormous amount of credit in the bank for those heroics and deserves respect. I don't want to be so spoilt and ungrateful not to acknowledge that. Added to that, he's an unbelievably talented player for the level.

Of course, LW will 'roll' the way he does and we all admire that. But you can't help wondering at those fans that focus on the very minor peccadilloes rather than the bigger picture of the player he is and what he achieved for our club last season.
First of all, wonderful use of the word ‘peccadilloes’….must admit, I’ve never even seen that word. Made me think of that dime bar advert!

Anyway, regardless of Baldwins fantastic exploits the season prior there is simply no excuse to come back to training out of shape….a week is long enough to celebrate, even for the most hardcore?! All the other players who had great seasons managed it. Of course, this is assuming that Baldwin even did come back in poor shape.

Cheers lol are dime bars still available?

Nobody's going to be coming back in tip-top match shape, are they? Sure, there will be a range of conditions players might come back in. The key point here is that he picked up an injury in pre-season, not good if you need that time to get up to the standard needed.
But not everything is always going to copacetic (trying another one there, and no, you don't need a cream for it ) and shiit happens. I just don't think we should even be talking about it, why tinge the best time the club's had in years and years with negativity that isn't needed?

Respect works both ways. As good as Baldwin was for much of last season, if the rumours of him returning from the break out of shape are true, he would lose some of my respect. It would also mean he didn't show his manager, his team mates and his fans much respect. I don't rate AB quite as highly as you, but however good you are there is no excuse for an unprofessional approach.

If the rumours aren't true of course, I'm talking bollox.

free up funds to strengthen in defence as LW keeps saying we're on the verge of doing.

I wasn't saying we SHOULD offload anyone. I agree with you that our squad depth is important going forward partly because it's not that er deep AND that we're a bit unbalanced with AM and forwards, just that this last interview sounded like it might happen.

I'm glad we have LW in charge who continuously pushes the players -look at the KN squad reached the play offs came back from pre-season in bad shape and we all know what happened next.
Baldwin has the potential to play higher a lot of talent with an edge to him, it's how he manages that edge - look how last season when he ran half the length of the pitch to get involved in a ruck and should have been sent off.
I think he's been a good player for us and rightly so I will always be grateful for last season but it sounds like he needs to listen to LW to come on the next stage of the journey, he's obviously a little injury prone so has to listen to people who know in order to have a chance of staying fit.

    You're asking me?

Since you said 'If the rumours aren't true of course, I'm talking bollox'., you might have suddenly developed a preference

We have much better professionalism now than in 2018/19, but as I said there'll be a range of conditions coming back from the break. Those at the wrong end of that spectrum can ill afford to pick up a pre-season injury. But those are the usual vicissitudes (I'm on a roll today) of professional football and I think it's a shame we let them override historical moments and tremendous individual achievements.
