Glad all enjoyed, unbelievable to be in the Albert Hall for Northern and they pulled it off. First time there for me, but what a venue. Been looking forward to the BBC programme since the night. Awesome.

dave, it is a great venue in which to play, particularly since they put the mushrooms up in the roof, they really did improve the acoustics in there. Some very happy memories and I shall be there for the Festival of Remembrance in November and will enjoy watching the show as usual.
    You can't beat live music!

Did you play there SS? I heard about the mushrooms, how clever, just an amazing place and for an old Soulie the most incredible night and I've had some

Alf it started sort of a bit quietly atmosphere wise with nobody quite knowing what to expect from the singers but they performed brilliantly as you just heard. I have in the past brought performers to the UK from Detroit on a much smaller scale and had great nights around the UK but that night in London was special. As the night went on the atmosphere just got better, probably picked up from the broadcast.

Northern Soul for me is a bit like Rugby League, does nowt for me, I'd rather be listening to some good old Prog, Yes, early Genesis, Floyd, King Crimson, The Nice, ELP etc. But thats just me, I must be a funny bugger, and I'm not trying to be contentious, it's great that so many thoroughly enjoyed the evening's entertainment, sounds like it was one helluva show.

Marmite Sinks, I'm a funny bugger also. Hate Queen with a passion but my old mates loved it, can perhaps listen a little Punk and Ska maybe, my mates want me to go to Undertones concert locally, we'll see. I'm with you on Rugby League. Horses for courses mate.

I never visited the Wigan Casino but I really enjoyed the Northern Soul experience and the performers last night. Tainted Love and then Do I love you (indeed I do) to end a great evening.

I had a quick peep on IPlayer and there was R.Dean Taylor's Ghost in my House, I've always liked that but never knew it qualified as Northern Soul. Just what is Northern Soul ? Is R Dean Taylor's 'Indiana Wants Me' Northern Soul for instance ?

Origins of Northern soul date back to the late 1960s' underground rhythm and soul scene. Thousands of ****agers in the North of England danced to the same syncopated beat, revolting against the charts. The music and dance movement combined American soul and Motown music with distinctive dance styles.15 Jul 2020.
