A massive improvement on what we have BS and if you don’t ask you don’t get! Not every player is in it for money so worth a go!

Like billsbest, I somehow doubt he would be interested but it's certainly an idea BS, and, as Al said "you don't ask, you don't get". Wouldn't be the first time an older quality player has opted to do such after all

The chances of this sort of transfer are almost non existent.

Even if it were, it’s exactly the sort of “end of the road” player we all moan about when we sign them.

I want to see young, athletic, pacey players with potential signing.

I don’t see Brighton and Brentford signing has beens.

The only realistic model for us as a struggling club with a poor owner is to identify decent quality youngsters who we can sell on.

I really wonder if our club has any nous in foreign markets, I suspect not?

This is an interesting read about Brighton and how they’ve gone about things.

It’s a pity we didn’t try this route after two or three years of Premier League stability.

You are right Mick! Recruit an Ashworth type of person on decent wages but add a very good commission on profitability and loss. So if a player like Asante makes the club millions then a commission is payable but deducted against loss of another player ie a Karlan Grant!

I think you’d need to limit the penalty side of this AL.

Brighton have taken chances on high fees as well but it you want an Ashworth type figure running this then they’re not going to risk their total earnings on potential that costs the club ( in the future ) )£20m and they lost £2m if that player flops.

It might mean putting a structure in place that rewards for younger talent.

That would encourage the person to invest in youth and younger players are where you take the least risk but potentially make the biggest gains.

We’re supposed to be modelling our play on the Brighton style, so maybe the rest will come. Looking in the free transfer market is a good idea though if we get the right fit. Our full backs in our system are attacking full backs, so they won’t be as effective at the back. If we want a water tight defence we will have to change our style of play and be more defensive. We got caught out on Saturday because we pushed forward as a unit. We score more goals this way but get caught on the break sometimes.

I agree, but this takes time and it’s pretty difficult to start just unearthing gems
Historically we don’t even play youngsters and just alienate them

But all that said I’d take anyone especially an experienced head at the back tbh, we look shocking

Yes we got caught on the break but shocking defending and Palmer gifting this goal to them. Can’t even say well done to them as a decent defence would never have allowed this even if caught on the break! Truly amateurish!
