    Our close neighbours

Oh dear , its not going well for our close neighbours , The Cisco Kid at Sheffield 6 might just ridden out of town & Paul Finishbottom is under real pressure at the Lane , I remember when sky sports covered first whipping 6 nil to Chelsea & driving back after being humiliated thinking that the reality of the premier league had hit home , the fairy tale had become a nightmare but hey ho we picked ourselves up & went again & hopefully Hecky survives this & bounces back , I don"t mind the Blades but I just hope things go from bad to worse for the owls , cannot stand them !! Rotherham also are in trouble but again I hope they can pull it round whilst over at the Milk float Dooncaster are starting to come round a bit but all in all our near neighbours are all having it rough , hopefully we continue to buck the trend !!!

Think Yorkshire teams in general have had a hard time of it in the last 20 years. Barely any presence in the top flight, no major silverware either. It's high time some Yorkshire clubs turned the screw and had a rejuvenation. Finances obviously play their part in success and a lack of investment in clubs around these parts means the good times are unlikely to be returning soon.

I think the vast majority of Barnsley fans regard Sheffield Wednesday as the close neighbour upon whom they wish no good will.

The long standing pyramid structure of football in England where "the likes of" Carlisle, Northampton and Wimbledon could go to the top, even for a short time, has been destroyed by money, particularly the formation of the Premiership. The prize money (£100 million for finishing bottom) and parachute money make it increasingly harder for "outsiders" to stay long. I'm expecting spankings like the 0-8 to fall on Burnley and Luton soon.

In current financial circumstances we have found our level as a strong Third Division side and a weak Championship side. We would be struggling in the Championship now had we won at Wembley and be receiving the odd spanking ourselves.

You are right with what you say, we would have struggled in the championship with out a doubt however from a personal point of view I went to Ecclesfield grammar school in the sixties & as a fan of a team in the 4th division surrounded by a school full of supporters of clubs who were both in the top flight my life was a misery , bullying might be a stretch too far but I was constantly having the p ripped out of me & sometimes it was aggressive & eventually my dislike of the clubs especially Wednesday became hate , Utd fans were not too bad & over the years I have developed a fondness for them but the hate I developed with me for the Owls has stayed within & I always have a smile when things go wrong for them but to be honest my post was aimed at the current state of football within south yorks finest , its not good is it ? I hope the Blades & the Millers turn it around , not bothered about Donny at all but I take pleasure in Wednesdays current plight & long may that continue .

    I agree Shads.

There are clearly fans of Wednesday who are fine people but the mixture of "c0ckiness", sense of entitlement and delusion exhibited by many at the club and amongst a good number of fans make it difficult to like them.

You say 'close' neighbours Shad, but what about those further afield ehh lol.
Leeds are obviously getting it together now and I always thought they would. But look at Hull as well, who have also started surprisingly well in the Championship.
Hudds have got Daz Moore now haven't they, and yet Bradford continue to falter under Mark Hughes in Lg Two.
I can't stand Sheff Weds of course (even more so after Wembley!), but I do also look at Sheff Ure the same way.

I'm the same, I wish no ill will to any South Yorkshire side...except the Fowls!!!!
The gloating after the Wembley loss still sticks with me and I hope to god we go up and they pass us on the way down.
Let's be honest 11 men on the pitch at Wembley and we win that and the tables will have most likely turned with them at the top of league 1 and us at the bottom of the Championship, who knows?
I see Phillips hasn't learned from that Wembley red card either he put in a worse tackle in the same part of the pitch on Saturday and got a yellow card, there is no consistency with refs at all these days!

Paul Finishbottom? He dint finish bottom last season did he.Sunday was the worst "performance i've ever seen(the first 20mins apart) and the first game i recall going to was in 1964, and like all the South Yorkshire clubs fans i've seen plenty of rubbish down the decades. Hecky deserves to stay at BDBL for now cos the job he did last season was phenominal.I hope Roma's Reds get promoted this season.UTB

If Hecky gets sacked it'd be a travesty. Then again, nowt surprises me in football these days.

I hope we never hit the dizzy heights of the Premier League again.
