I agree Phil, it’s a hell of a task even for a professional.

This kid is taking the rap for other people because they know he’ll only get a small slap!

This could well be gypo’s because the wood from that would have a huge value if they’d been able to move it.

Was thinking much the same myself. Felling such a large tree-especially so cleanly-certainly seems well beyond the capabilities of your average lone six**** year old. Just hope that those truly responsible are caught and suitably punished. This was no act of spur of the moment mindless vandalism but took deliberate planning. Going forward, a new tree can be planted I suppose but it will be a few life times before it is of any comparable stature.
