    Misandry and Misogyny

Us blokes - we’ll no longer have any rights or freedoms to be what we are 😂 What is going on in this western world?

A guy can no longer be a typical guy that you and I grew up as, immediately we’d get called out for misogyny or something. Not that i’ve been misogynistic.
There’s a minority in females and males that are acting in a certain way to character assassin anyone behaves in a certain way. Don’t get me wrong, someone deliberately trying to abuse another, bully etc should face their just deserts. Anyway, not sure where i’m going with this argument- will let our site oracle omegastrat take over 😄

It’s created a minefield that no one can escape. I read an interesting blog the other day that was in effect saying that now women have created a society that negates any blame on them whatsoever in relationships. If a man doesn’t make you happy then he’s quickly called a narcissist. There’s no looking at ourselves she said as to having a part in a relationship break up. Not sure how it went down with her readers but everything she said is true. The other side is that as men we can’t do right for doing wrong.

I’m expecting to be arrested at some point due to the way I tend to politely thank women by using the “thanks love” phrase that I’ve always used.

I’m sure I’m going to deeply offend someone soon.

You’ll be ok, Mick, as long as you don’t say it to a bloke!

Glen McCrory an ex boxer was actually up before a judge the other day for using the word 'pet' to a waitress and had somehow managed to touch her elbow to get her attention. He had to deny he used the word 'pet' in a flirtatious manner and he also had to deny 'winking' at her, although that last bit could have been misinterpreted with a different vowel. He was eventually cleared of any wrong doing.

He’s a Geordie I believe and “pet” is a term most people in the north east use, a lot of my family are from up there and it’s an everyday occurrence…..for generations nobody has taken offence.

Down south it’s usually “darlin” in certain areas, go to Somerset and the south west and it’s “luvver”.

Around here we use “mate” a lot, I’ve only known one person ever annoyed by this and it was an old boss of mine who worked in Stourbridge but didn’t come from around the Black Country.

Why can people not appreciate that it’s a vocal way of expressing kind thanks and also for showing you feel happy and relaxed in the situation and environment you’re in at that moment.

This need to be offended by such things is really disheartening.

    Oracle here!!😂
Tbh, I'm as lost as you lot!. All I can say is that it seems to me to be mostly generational and much to do with how too many younger people have been brought up with a worrying combination of thin skins and an enhanced sense of entitlement that sees them claiming "offence" at anything.

There is still a lot of misogynistic behaviour around and it is now rightly being called out but also far too many instances where people have also gone overboard. Taking offence at terms like mate/ luv/ pet/ duck etc. (or Bab for that matter) seems ridiculous as these are clearly not meant offensively. Some people need to get over themselves.

There has been, and always will be, flirting and banter and it is certainly true that these can too easily cross the line into ***ual harassment or bullying and people should be aware of the dangers of this and how their behaviour might genuinely upset people but it's human nature and "cancel culture" won't ever work. All people can do I suppose is ultimately to try and be respectful to each other.

If I'd got a free pint for every time a barmaid (if that's what 'they' are still known as) has called me love, darling or sweet and sometimes all of them during the same transaction I could very possibly have died of alcohol poisoning by now.

A few weeks ago I bumped into this young guy when I was shopping and with no staff about he asked me if I knew where a certain product was and I showed him and he thanked me to which I replied " no worries buddy" or something similar. Then I realised. He was wearing make up and a dress. Oops😁 Mind you, was he A) dressed like this because he was on a stag do a transvestite, C) transgender or D) other ? (an acquaintance may have elected E for "just wrong" 😀&#128580. In any event, he/she/they didn't seem to mind. Aside from anything else my point is that this is as it should be-no offence meant and none taken.
