    O/T £20 million for Rotherham

Wonder if this £20m will be spent wisely or squandered on ridiculous schemes

If council have their way likely used to compulsory buy empty shops to knock them down, then sell land cheap to developers to build flats.

Corporation Street is a perfect example. I would rather see those eyesores, that have been empty for loads of years, compulsory purchased and the area redeveloped for housing. At least then, the eyesores are removed and hopefully reasonable affordable housing is built as part of any developer taking on the project(s).

LM, anything is better than what is currently still in plain view and what a mess it still looks. Only been burnt down 10 years! How long does it take to find the owner and get them to redevelop or clear the site? RMBC are very poor at this kind of thing.

They have already looked at the burnt out buildings, developers say they aren't viable. https://www.rothbiz.co.uk/2023/01/ne...burnt-out.html
