We have added 5 players:

Ford, Durose, Douglas, Holvey and McGuckin.

The point is all the other teams have sides that play in the under 21 and Under 23 leagues, which is what reserve team football used to be. Some Division 1 sides have these teams as well, hence why the other clubs have big squads playing competitive football. Our lads are nowhere near this level and go on loan to the lower levels of non-league.

Did we not bring Redfern in to build the Academy,I do believe he did a great job at Barnsley,I think T/S was asking too much of him to manage & build the Academy but I think T/S didn’t realise how much a good academy costs.

You are so wrong read the rules it's 25 players plus club grown players, have a look at the actual squad sizes most teams are around 35 to 38 players.
We have a small academy set up and no under 21 or under 23 development teams (old reserve teams). That is a big part of the problem.

That's where we are going wrong with the youngsters coming through.We should be in an under 21 league like Barnsley,Blackpool and Bolton where they get more football time and we can monitor their progress,not sending them out to non league clubs.Our squad size would be more on a par with most clubs then.

I think this is one of the reasons Warnock didn’t want the job full time,we look good on the outside but in the inside we a years behind we haven’t even got our own training ground.

Remember the Podcasts that Paul Warne did during his last promotion season?
He speaks about begging the chairman for an under 21 squad because of how much it helps the first team.

I think this youth development and the under 21 team is a bigger issue than some think, great information from Henson on this, thank you makes for interesting reading and a wider discussion. Everything is about money and clearly TS has decided that the first team is it and therefore very short-sighted and a short-term thinker, makes you wonder why when it is clear what a detrimental impact it has on the first team and how a well run youth development system benefits the club financially in the longer term.

Just looked at MTs post match comments this guy is absolutely clueless basically saying because it’s took an hour for us to concede it’s our best performance, echoes of the early reign of Warne basically defend all well and good but we can’t because of MTs decision to recruit sick note centre backs! He’s banking on Hall Morrison to come over the hill like some sort of cavalry but how long will Hall last till next time he limps off! Groundhog Day Words fail me if we had a back 2/3 then yes defend for 90 minutes and get an away point on the board☹️

So you don’t agree it was the better away game? Compared to others it was imo, look at the whole picture not just the snippet
Hopefully next away game we will improve even more
