Now that is an interesting and unexpected observation.
Personally I was disappointed to see Lisa Nandy ‘dropped’.

I visited a big design firm near Birmingham about six years ago who were working on (and charging the earth for) contingencies like that for the London/Brum link so I guess they or someone has the same for the Mcr link

It’s been a huge potential ‘white elephant’ for years as many on here recognised, in an entirely ‘cross party’ way, ages ago, but Sith’s point is a good one. What the hell is to be done with all the places north of Birmingham where there has been a lot more than ‘spades in the ground’...how is it to be put right and how much will that cost us all?

Why hurrah? Its being built, they should as they promised build both legs to Manchester and Leeds, now they ahve wasted billions and it wont achieve what it was intended to do, which is both provide fats links and improve connectivity between North and South of the UK, and more importantly create the additional capacity on existing routes (by removing fast trains from them), for moving more freight by rail.

They have wasted billions for virtually no benefit.

Its only been a "white elephant" in the eyes of people who know nothing about what its for and why it was important for improving connectivity and increasing capacity for moving freight by rail! cancelling it North of Birmingham is utterly stupid, because it won't save money, and wastes the billions already spent.

So much disinformation and *******s talked about it, yet we will spend billions on road improvements, which research shows just generates more traffic, we need low carbon options for transport. Oh well I'll be dead before the folly of this decision hits home.

    I mean **** me.

The economy is ****ed, the disparity between North and London grows and they cancel a major infrastructure project that is ***** to addressing this.
Schools are crumbling and they pretend they will ban mobile phones, abolish A levels and make every child study maths until 18?

The worlds warming and they cut targets to address this.

And ****ing Liz Truss who was forced out by the markets after her bat**** crazy plans, claim she was right and it was a left wing conspiracy that stopped her!! They are all seriously deranged and fast becoming UKIP.

That’s a fact, and by coincidence rA’s pal Nige appears to be being reintegrated into the party.

All such comedy appears to be contributing to the 28 point lead for Labour BUT, and this is according to dear old Aunty Beeb (including an interesting feature on Women’s Hour) a number of things make that figure less than reliable - such as, the significant reluctance of people (women in this case but I’m sure it’s the same with men) to confirm they will vote Conservative, apparently a long standing thing, and the accelerating failure of younger left leaning people to convert an intention to vote into actually voting
