    I've never heard

Of anyone in real life refer to themselves as being " in the tartan army ".

Is this just a BBC and ITV thing?

Or do folk that go see Scotland refer to themselves as "footsoldiers" and "advance party"

Imagine if these armies turned on each other, what a war that would be, there must be 1000’s of individual armies, I wonder how many need to be members before they can use the word “army”, where’s deeranged, let’s get his thoughts

Surely they're organised into battalions and regiments? Battalions might be as few as 50 but regiments possibly several hundred.

I'd back the thousands of DSA members to take out a regiment of 'Tartan Army Foot Soldiers' any day. Those Jimmy McJimmy wigs will surely prevent them doing any kind of tactical thinking and anyway, how can you fight if you're pi55ed and swimming in a fountain? Just not possible

I think that the ‘tartan army’ came into being when an estimated 70,000 Scotland supporters took over Wembley in 1977 with the BBC and ITV calling them the Tartan Army.
