England 1st in overall ranking (5 years) and 8th in 2023/24 season. Mostly due to PL clubs starting in group stages, so no points for qualification matches. It probably will be back to normal in a month or so
As far as I understand 2 extra places awarded for 2 best nations in previous season (2023/24 for 2024/25 CL spot). not for 5 years ranking.

Yeah, that’s how I read it… how well we, and the other teams in any European competition do THIS season, is what matters with regards to getting one of two extra spots (for 5th in EPL) in next seasons Champions League

Looks like we're 1st to me.
We're the strongest league in the world due to the way the finances are split among all the clubs. As I've mentioned previously, La Liga, Serie A & Bundesliga were offered the same deal from BskyB / News Corp, which the top clubs in each league rejected.
These are the same clubs, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juve, AC Milan et al who are now pushing for the Super League due to them all being practically bankrupt & unable to compete with English Clubs like Villa, Palace, West Ham for players.
That's there fault & I'm pleased to see that all Governing bodies are standing strong against the idea of a breakaway league.
