My daughter and I have been very excited by this coming out tomorrow

Have had the date pencilled in for a few weeks, hopefully it lives up to what we expect

Just an amazing band and it’s amazing they did all the amazing and varied work in 8 odd years

    No one else comes close

As a big Beatles fan myself I've got it on pre-order as a cd though that's probably more for completeness sake than anything else. Didn't actually mind either Free as a bird or Real Love when they came out but, having heard the bootleg ( pre-Jackson AI) version of Now and Then, I think George Harrison was right not to do anything with it then. Sound quality aside, it's not a great song.

Still, a lot of technological advances since and my understanding is that they've played around with the structure of the song a bit as well as adding orchestration and fitting in bits of George's guitar from their original efforts in 95/96. End of the day, it may not be a great song, but it's the Beatles so still looking forward to hearing it.

There have been many great bands but honestly don't think we'll ever see their like again. Whilst I certainly wouldn't claim that everything they did was that good, no other band has produced such a breadth of work in so short a time period, nor produced so many truly classic pop songs.

As was written at the time ‘They look and sound as if they come from another world.’

As a songwriter they are the reason I started. No two songs alike, lots of chord structures not just three chords. Fast, slow, in between. Lyrically sound, lots of different subjects. They are the model for songwriting. I never run out of ideas but if I need a little inspiration I generally look no further than the Beatles, eagles, or Justin currie.

Nowhere near your own league Boingy but I've helped others learn to play guitar and have always urged them to learn some Beatles songs in order to increase their chord vocabulary and learn more varied and interesting progressions including modulation.

I'm sure you've seen the Rick Beato YouTube clip "Why boomers hate pop music" but he makes some good points. The variety and innovation of pop music in the 60s and 70s was far greater than it is now. As a producer, Beato appreciates the sounds modern songs may have but claims too many modern songs all sound the same. The reasons he cites for this include lack of sonic variation, limited chord progressions and little use of modulation, over use of auto tune and a ubiquitous use of the same beat/drum track and limited use of "real instruments" played by real people. He would be the first to say that not all modern pop music is rubbish but tbh, find it hard to disagree with him personally. Of course, 😁, I'm a Boomer myself, so may be expected to say this -but I know several young bands who feel exactly the same!

Well done 👍. I know when I am asked to send songs to producers I steer clear of those who say “we are looking for a song in the style of……”
It’s the way it is with many. Something works, they kill it to death. This leaves you with either chasing money for the sake of it or being true to yourself. I choose the latter. Most stuff I do is melancholic and just too “real” for most music companies. That’s ok. It’s partly therapy for me and something for others to connect with and I know I’ve helped a lot of people this way. Filling in my music tax returns might be less impressive but I’m happy for the happy clappies to make their dosh. I’m very much a songwriters songwriter. We understand each other.
