Are you and Kdy saying if Jim Goodwin takes us up as champions we need a new manager?

I also disagree with your point about his priority of winning the midfield battle first. His first priority was to fix the defence and create a spine with Walton Gallagher Holt Docherty Sibbald Moult. Imo that's where everything is flowing from.

Heard JG saying that Tilson is a player that expects to play matches and come here to play etc - which would indicate to me that he will be starting

Shame that Glass, Cudjoe and Mochrie all will miss out but great we have competition for places and if you lose the shirt for any reason you have to fight for it back

I liked big Dunc - we played too many long balls with him in the team and his discipline was a bit off sometimes near the end

He is a good lad though and still comes back to support united like he did end of last year

He will have ICT, physical and out to get us

Polite applause 👏 and then on with a crucial match for United

Not at all, just that it's only championship level worthy praise thus far. Would obviously love to have him storm us to the top of the Premiership too

It is worth looking again at the team that went in to the split and lost the last 5 games.

Only 3 of these players are still at the club. Quite a turnover in such a short space of time and now very much Goodwin's team. I would argue that with exception of Behich who is a tidy player I don't think there are many players you would swap positions with the current team.

I was thinking about a comparison with last season and this season the other day

Keeper - one million times better

Defence - Ayina was very good but overall the current back four is an upgrade. Grimshaw is a very tidy right back although he wants to be centre mid

Midfield - we are mostly using players that were with us last season but they are playing better and youngsters maturing

Forward - Watt and Moult - better than a situation when we left ourselves with only Fletcher

I think that shows the current team would only need a few additions IF we got promoted

Urg, I hate a question that starts 'are your saying...'. what they are saying is what they are saying. 🙂

Well I'm just trying to get them to confirm that is what they meant Terry. Maybe they meant "he's doing well but it's just the Championship". Would still like to see them reply.
As Arab777 says, he's transformed a really poor team in about 10 minutes into one that's playing the best football we've seen for years and he deserves great credit for it. He's created a team that would have kept us up, and let's not forget he's done it on a tiny budget.

I've said before that I get the impression there's a small element of our support just waiting for a couple of defeats to pile on because they hated Goodwin as a player. Might be wrong but it's just a wee feeling I get from some of the posts here and on another forum I follow.

Yes, it's Championship level, of course it is, but he deserves great credit for what he's achieving and if he wins the league with this team he automatically deserves the right to continue. To suggest otherwise is nonsense.

I think the truth is somewhere between this and what you replied to. And did someone say something about an elbow in the puss player in JGs mould?

Personally think Goodwin is a better manager than he was a player in that respect, and i can only recall 3 games ive seen where the midfield has had to battle through a game, Airdrie, Raith and Morton. Im a bit hazy on the timings, and while i admit i didnt see Holt as part of the cure for our defensive ills, the early signings of Walton, Holt, Grimshaw, Docherty and Denford(??) say to me we were building a team with a spine with midfielders up for the battle. Something we have failed to do so many times.

Was keeping Sibbald then signing Gallacher and Moult in Goodwins plan during the rebuild? I have my doubts. I even think Tillson was a reaction to loosing 2 midfielders, but they are all here now and doing the business.

Just need a wee bit more from Watt, just like his outrageous flick before his goal last weekend!
