    O/T Beatles

Old song they've found grown on me especially video better than anything off new Rolling Stones album. Superstition re. lotto even numbers so putting an old Pretenders song on I like.

It’s not really an old song they have found.

It is based on a demo and some tech boffs have used audio computer programmes to put it together from other bits of demos and practice sessions from all 4 Beatles recorded years and miles apart.

Peter Jackson who directed lord of the rings has CGI’d the video together.

Yes, like "Free As a Bird" and "Real Love", they're John Lennon demos from the late 70s. He didn't record them so obviously he didn't rate them much himself.

It’s not for me. I prefer stuff like Get Back and A Day In The Life.

I don’t see the point. It doesn’t really add anything different. Just seems like computer geeks showing off what they can cobble together and another swimming pool for Paul.

I listened to the six part BBC Radio series ‘Eras’ while on my UK visit. Hosted by Martin Freeman it’s a potted history of the Beatles culminating in an account of how ‘Now and Then’ came to be released.

There’s a lot of direct commentary from the group members and those around them - some of it never released before.

I thought the new (and now last) song was excellent and the series very worthwhile. The series has undoubtedly been put together as publicity for the record but it’s none the worse for this.

    Still available on BBC Sounds.
