Ah, cricket, that quintessentially "English" game played in whites both in villages across the country and by young Victoria gentlemen in their public schools whose rules and standards of sporting conduct would go on to inform how they would help run the Empire. Well, that's the myth isn't with the beardy fella WG Grace increasing its popularity.

Personally, although my dad is a great fan, never really got into the game myself although I do remember watching players like Sobers, Lillie, Knott, Viv Richards and, later, Botham, Khan and then Tendulkar and Warne. I'm sure there are many more greats I missed but as a non follower even I can see how much cricket has changed over the years. Is the evolution of the sport a good thing? As with football and boxing maybe not always.
