Thread: Nathan Jones

Must say,I thought Jones would be as good an appointment as we could hope for, given our situation,so if not him then who ?
This really is one of the hardest jobs in football, said it many times,so it`s hard to see many people who are experienced at this level who would be interested, which leaves lower league managers,or young managers who want to give it a go(Taylor,Warne, etc).
If we`re going down that route again, which would be pretty pointless, literally, then we should have given Taylor longer,or give to WC until the end of the season.
The Bruce thing would interesting, apart from probably Warnock he`s as good as you get at this level, but would he really be interested ?
If we are thinking of young manager again, somebody like John Terry would be very interesting, there must be lots of ex Prem players wanting to get into management,at least it would cause a bit of excitement whilst we go down !
Suppose the only other option left would be a foreign manager, something we have never done, must say I don`t fancy that at all.
    Over to you TS.

Good point at Brum but they are as weak an opponent as we’re likely to face all season.
If we are to have any chance at stopping up we should have taken 3 points on Saturday as there will be much, much sterner tests to come
I agree. And for all we know the sudden uptick in effort level from the players may well have been because they knew (thought they knew) that the new gaffer was in the stands watching them (the Rob Scott pep talk primed them as much). So the performance might have little to do with Carlisle.

And, yes, professional footballers really are that fickle.

This is what Steve Bruce said in an interview a couple of days ago and hasnt Tony Stewart sought his advice on things like managerial appointmens in the past?

"I'm itching to go back in, not necessarily as a manager. I wouldn't mind helping a young manager, helping a club in any way; I'd like to think that after 46 years, if someone asked me a question about football, I'd be able to answer it."
We would all be able to answer it. However the answer may be a load of bollox.

Paul Davis is saying Steve Evans is back in the frame but if you read the full article it's clear he hasn't got a bloody clue, just like the rest of us.
    What a bloody mess.

Indeed there is! Heckingbottom would make an incredible replacement if we could persuade him. He was great at Barnsley and Blades before they sold him out this year.
SUFC site says Wilder has taken his job now - I pray Tony's on his phone offering an instant return to prop up a different division!

Do you think TS's wallet has enough in it to interest Hecky? I very much doubt it.

Heckingbottom got them promoted last season and you could argue his sacking is harsh. His stock will still be pretty high, particularly at Championship level. He wouldn’t touch us at present.
