A bit O/T but if you liked Chariots of Fire, The Boys in the Boat is a book with a similar theme and is pertinent to the Seattle area where I'm currently living. The film based on the book has just premiered here and is on general release from Christmas Day.
I always thought the end of Hitchcock's Birds was disappointing

Watched all Sherlock Holmes films, with Basil Rathbone has lead actor.

My favourite - The Scarlet Claw

Basil Rathbone refused to do anymore Sherlock Holmes films, after Nigel Bruce [Dr John Watson] his co-star, passed away.

Still remember the restaurant scene from that, an adolescent favourite.

Not so much a favourite but it took me years to find it and finally get to watch it on TV. 'The Brave don't cry' starring John Gregson.

I suppose it's because of my past working life that I can relate to it so easily.

The Brave Don't Cry is a 1952 British drama film directed by Philip Leacock and starring John Gregson, Meg Buchanan and John Rae. The film depicts the events of September 1950 at the Knockshinnoch Castle colliery in Scotland, where 129 men were trapped by a landslide. It was shot at Southall Studios and was also known by the alternative title Knockshinnoch Story.

    Plot:

A group of coalminers are trapped underground after a fall. The story follows the trapped men, their rescuers, and their families as they struggle to dig them out before the oxygen is exhausted. A phone line exists to the trapped men. The efforts are hampered by firedamp.

Don't ask me why, but I was never afraid of going underground to mine. Nowadays I hate really tight enclosed spaces and try my best to avoid them.

My pockets are very free spaces as I somehow manage a game of pocket billiards in one of them
