Certainly can attack for no obvious reason, but not will attack for no obvious reason. Properly managed the risk of a dog, any dog, ever attacking anything can be reduced to almost zero.

I know almost zero still leaves potential but there's risk in everything we do, more chance of being hit by a bus (not a 1B during Covid) whilst crossing the road than being mauled by a dog.

These things ain't pets, the lunatic that's trying for a sanctuary on the outskirts of Dundee should be stopped

A 150lb animal would rip a child in two.

Some of the videos and CCTV of the attacks are beyond horrific.

Had plenty dogs over the years....all rescues and one pedigree for a very short time.

From sausage to an Alsation.......I'd never contemplate owning one of these beasts.

Boy a few doors up from me had a bull mastiff and controlled it very well, but once he slipped in the park and dog went for mine, I threw my dog over a 10 foot dyke otherwise it wuda killed my pooch I'm pretty sure.

Another time it attacked 2 German shepherds, badly injuring one

I don't think mastiffs are as powerful as these things.

Let's be honest the government aren't gonna get rid of the owners, educate them or change them in any way so the best option is to get rid of the breed. Who gives a **** who's to blame when it's hinging aff yer bairns puss? Anybody who reckons they're no more dangerous than poodles is a ****ing idiot.

Any dog can do serious damage by 'hinging aff yer bairns puss'. What do we do? Ban all dogs?

Only one ****in' idiot in this conversation.

I see what you mean now about that daft boot trying to open an XL Bully sanctuary in Dundee, I've seen her Pussbook page and she's clearly no wired right. There's another boy on the BBC now, saying he's driving them over the border to save them, 35 so far, he's not said where just that it's to Scotland. If anybody wants to put their money where their mooth is, I'll take a bet that the next fatal dog attack in Scotland won't be by a Poodle, just name your amount and I'll cover it.

I'm not a gambler and even if I was I wouldn't be placing any bet on any occurrence that would depend on someone losing their life.

You've just shown us all what a sick individual you are.

I haven't seen any signs of them backtracking? If they said they're not doing it because of this reason or that reason then fine let's hear it but they're not, it's simply another excuse to stick 2 fingers up at England.

On a side note, anyone remember when Dobermans were being called 'Devil Dogs' and were generally feared as potential killers, got that reputation from a movie? Staffys had it for a while, killer dogs, among the gentlest dogs around unless trained to be otherwise.

These XL Bullies tend to be owned by gadgies who have them as status symbols, back in the day people had Dobermans or Staffys for the same reason. Give a big dog to a moron and the dog could easily become a moron because it will take on the traits of the pack leader.

I don't support the idea of someone starting a kennels specifically to rescue a large breed like this but if it's what she wants to do and she can guarantee security who are any of us to say she shouldn't do it? I doubt she'll get the final permission anyway.
