Its not the same though is it as Sam resigned and said he wasnt going to Bolton.

Swansea will have contacted us about speaking to him think that is clear as we to my knowledge havent reported them.

As for dosh you could say the same about Langstaff/Scott leaving Gateshead or are they not Judas as they joined us ?

End of the day its a huge upgrade for LW and not many turn that down, Warnock did whilst here and his reward was the sack !

They are paying big bucks for a really unknown. He failed at Swindon, done well here but we are an unusual set up. The Swans won't be like us
Perhaps the club has allowed it and set a minimum compensation level that Swansea are trying to haggle. It could also be that the club were aware of the approach and are now squeezing Swansea for more compensation rather than reporting them.

A lot of which we will have to pay out for new contracts for the new coach and assistant so how much do we actually profit from it?

I'm sure there was a discussion on here in the past (a couple of years ago) where it was said that only a years compensation had to be paid as the contracts weren't worth the paper they were written on? I'll try and find the thread.

totally gutted to lose him, but hardly a surprise. Overriding feeling right now is just how brilliant he made us while he was here. Thanks, Luke and good luck.

We're going to see exactly how much of our uptick in fortunes is down to the bros. My guess is we'll be alright, and could challenge for playoffs this season. It will depend on the new boss obviously, but also on the character of the guys in our squad. I think we'll be alright.
Whilst I only watch Notts on the TV I've watched various L2 managers in the seasons before we went down Ardley Birch and Williams. Watching Notts under Williams always had a different feeling about it after the first few games and including this season I sat down to watch every game confident we could win. I can only say that about one other Notts manager which was Warnock before we went up to the old division one. However the way we played under Williams was ( is) wonderful. Clearly he is on the way barring a miracle. Just want to say thank-you really. In the brothers we trust to locate a suitable replacement. I would be very very interested to know the size of the compo package. Surely 3-400k at least?

One of the problems Burchnall had was a lack of clinical finishers, I know that's seems crazy as he had Wooton but he wasted a lot of chances even as a 20 goal a season striker.

What I'm saying is, let's not be too hasty in saying it's all going down the toilet
I can’t help but laugh. Basically, any manager/head coach that has won anything is no good, it’s all the players? If it wasn’t for Aguero, Mancini wouldn’t have won a Premier League. If it wasn’t for the class of 92, Fergie wouldn’t have nearly as many trophies.
Of course having good players makes a difference, however, those players still need a tactical template to play to. Those players need managing and motivating. A manager/head coach needs to try and get every ounce of ability out of a player. LW has done that in spades with the vast majority of the squad.
The next head coach has a good squad to utilise and I am intrigued at how he/she will keep this squad motivated, tighten us up at the back without losing the offensive prowess we possess.
2024 is already stressful as we look set to lose 2 of our biggest assets. I really hope it’s a bad dream and I wake up on Feb 1st and we have our current team and management but with a few additions.

What changed the most between IB and LW? The style of play was similar, tactics similar, we created a similar number of chances, the biggest difference was we put them away. How many times under IB would we put teams under the cosh, not score then concede a sloppy goal? Didn't happen under LW because Langstaff and Scott put them away and made the pressure count.

    All of it!
If he leaves today, we stop paying his salary and then just start with a new head coach when appointed.

But you have no idea whether LW wouldn’t have done better with IB’s squad. The fact that players say the detail LW goes in to us unlike anyone they have played under, says everything.
My point still remains that you are stating the obvious about players.. of course good players make a difference. A manager still needs to keep everyone happy, motivated and at their best. LW did that, IB didn’t. I do think LW is a better coach than IB, but I don’t agree that he is miles better. Like with the squad, a couple of small improvements have made a difference.
Let’s agree that no manager in history has ever achieved anything. It’s all the players. After all it’s them that play not the managers.
