I have seen the speculation about this on the BBS but only on the BBS, the Owlstalk forum which is a very active forum has no mention of this rumour & to me that is all it is & to be honest in my eyes it would be complete madness to sell a striker who has scored 14 goals in 24 games for £500 k , we could not get a decent conference striker for that kind of money , he is in the top 3 strikers outside the championship , he 28 & in his prime , where do you get a replacement to hit the ground running & continue with the same goal ratio as Cole . If the owners are serious about trying to make the play offs which by all account would be worth north of £8 million and rising should we actually get promoted then it would be crazy to let your main asset leave for a pittance , having said all that I think this lot would sell the tea lady to MacDonalds if they came in for her & no doubt if any bid comes in for Colehe could well be on his way , I have no confidence in these owners at all .

Even though he runs like a rag doll from an Austrian puppet theatre - I really do like Cole.
Works his socks off and is decent in front of goal.

But £500k could buy a striker on a long term contract and that striker could be better than Cole.
For example Morris cost just £300k.

Plus of course - Fabio and Marsh are waiting in the wings to come on.

I am interested to know where these strikers are who you can buy for £500 k who can come in and instantly score at the same ratio as Cole has done this season , , he is in the top three strikers in the division which would suggest that his replacement has to come from a loan in a higher division because any striker with a better record than Coles can only be the two others in the same league & they are not coming to Oakwell for the same price or less , therefore you are expecting a loan player who has not been playing first team football to come in and score 12/13 goals in 22 games , its a big ask in fact it aint going to happen . I am all in favour of Jalo & Marsh getting opportunities but being as Jalo has not scored a league goal yet & Marsh has not even made the bench since the cock up in the cup then the chance of either of these two bridging the gap should Cole move on is somewhere between zero & zilch , if they both played together for every game until the end of season they wouldn"t get 10 between them, if they are serious about giving it a go then letting Cole go is barmy. I am of course forgetting about Shaw & Dallas who might fire in the goals , now there is a thought , what if the spreadsheet comes up with another out of their stable to replace Cole ?

Carlton Morris was plagued by injury for most of his career before we signed him. He was a gamble, very much a player on the peripherals during his time as a Norwich player going out on loan mostly. He made 150 appearances for various loan clubs in his first 7 seasons as a professional scoring 22 times. We took a chance and it worked.

He may have cost an estimated 300k but I bet his wages would've been way above what we could pay as a club in league 1.

I get that there's strikers out there but for 500k, thy either teks a chance on a crock or unearths the next Les Ferdinand from a non league club. Chances of either scenario coming off are very very slim.

Personally I'd keep Cole and let him move on a free when his contract is up assuming that he refuses a new deal. That would be the smartest move from our point of view. With Cole in the side we have a chance of promotion. Without him, I'd say forget it.

Ennyrooard, I thought the Dee Dahs were currently operating under a transfer embargo which means that they can't sign any players until their debts to HM revenue and customs are cleared? I remember reading a letter from Chansiri to the fans asking 20,000 fans to stump up a grand each to clear the debt as he was unprepared to put any more of his own cash in.

I might be wrong but when Carlton Morris joined us we were in the championship so the first question is would he have joined us if we had been in division 1 ? the second thing about Carlton was that he was never that prolific for us although he was great at Barnsley with his all round game , however he scored 14 goals for us in over 50 appearances , he actually started to find the net on a more regular basis when he joined Luton , the whole debate revolves around selling Cole now & who could come in and hit the ground straight away to continue with a similar goal return for the rest of this current season, we do not want to bring in more potential up front we have enough of that already here & Morris in the championship cannot be compared with Cole in our current season.

The speculation is increasing that our physio Vikki is now working her two week notice before joining ex Barnsley physio Sedgewick at Huddersfield Town. Sedgewick is Head Physio, Vikki to be Assistant Head Physio.

Better wages and prospects, even as second at Huddersfield.

The Lead Academy Physio at Barnsley and the Head First Team Physio at Barnsley were advertised 15 days ago on Jora UK.

Barnsley Chairman Parekh said at the Fans Meeting that it is "extremely unlikely" that we will sell any first team regulars.

"My word is my bond Terry, my word is my bond", as Arthur Daley would say.

Meanwhile Donovan C Pines is still considering his options, with Bobby Hassell pressing for an answer by Friday.

    Back to the thread then.

Reds showing interest in Niall Ennis at Blackburn Rovers.
He played alongside Cosgrove at Plymouth last season.

    According to Nixon mind.
