The most autocratic outfit in the world is the CCP. Will be interesting to see what happens when the money runs out for them. They have a debt crises brewing larger than anything the world has ever seen. They may have to resort to welding people in their apts like they did during covid.

You are correct that, in general, no private company of any size can function in a top down management structure these days.
