As you mentioned earlier there was a significant increase in attendance levels when we first moved into NYS. If I remember correctly it was reported that our average crowd had gone up by 127% which was the largest increase anywhere in Europe.
If you think about it a lot of those "newbies: will only have ever experienced the relatively successful times since we've been at NYS and are probably becoming disillusioned now things are getting tough.
Some football fans are fickle like that after all.
You’ve hit the nail on head regarding most of our younger generation of supporters and the new ones have only seen the better times . But I can also remember back when the Booths had the club, fans saying they won’t go under him . We seem to have fickle section who throw there toys out the pram when things are not going well . Btw my youngest son is in that category, he can only really remember the better times which my eldest lad regularly reminds him 🤣. He still supports us when he’s home from Uni . He doesn’t come home and start blaming the owner ,certain players , Douglas or whoever. He knows and understands we are punching well above our weight in this division and it’s basically impossible to survive in it .

I have been watching the Millers 13yrs before you were born so I’ve seen a lot of changes some good some bad. I think the days of the hardened Millers as gone.I would never tell any fans we don’t need them because WE do,we are not Man Utd we are little old Rotherham.I posted a few years ago that there was 5,6 of us home & away every season now only two of us.

On the contrary we do need them. The club needs to encourage these fans to stay.By doing nothing while our rivals are strengthening their squad sends a very negative message. If you are running a company and upset your customers and say we don't need them, you are walking into a downward spiral.

I support the club through thick and thin . I was one of the 1500 at Millmoor against Cambridge, Bradford away when we needed to win about 8 nil to escape relegation and lost 3 nil . Season ticket at Don Valley for 4 seasons . Was also at the Wembley games, play offs matches and Gillingham away . I take the rough with the smooth. End of the day I don’t pack it because we a bottom of the league like some have .

First of all we are trying to strengthen the squad , and secondly it isn’t my company but if it was I’d expect some understanding when trying to sign new players . We got one more game left to play until the window closes . We will be stronger come February. Btw we need better players not just any. they won’t be cheap and also convincing players to join us who could be facing a relegation pay cut will be a no no to most players .

here we go again, change the record. "It is hard", "We are working hard", "Nobody wants to play for us" blah, blah, blah the words of mentally weak people. We all know it is hard it is hard for everyone, but others seem to get on with it and get results in this hard market, Short term contracts and loans do not have relegation clauses in them. In the summer the club issued short-term contracts on quite large wages, the club just picked the wrong players, doesn't mean the approach was wrong just the decisions of those involved in recruitment. What that shows is that footballers will come for the right money. The real issue and we should talk about the elephant in the room, budget was wasted in the summer, board want to cut their loses now and want players out before we bring in what we need, this means a few signings late in the window if we are lucky. It also means that yet again we have sacrificed a few possible results to save money. It is all about the money, it is the point the club expects relegation and is planning for it and for next season in l1, this might also explain why existing players contracts are not being resolved. It is the pretence that this is not the case that gets on fans nerves, I have no issue with a financially driven strategy but for gods sake RUFC stop pretending otherwise.

So we just sign any player to make fans feel
better .Would like to think RUFC don’t work like that . Better players can sit and wait for better clubs, that’s a fact believe it or not . Btw isn’t there a spending cap clubs can pay in wages . Maybe that’s why we need to ship 1 or 2 out .
But then again I’m only supporter and not the owner .

So, just over halfway through January - activity out, just Kioso back to boost the ranks once fit and well. Still a question mark in my mind as to whether we'll be the same or stronger come February - perhaps a quiet damage limitation and prep for L1 already in train?
