Right with you there Islay. I've got statements in the house from 20 years ago. It's the tap and go that gets me. How do folk have any idea how much they spend; I think the answer is they dont. I've seen youngsters in pubs leaving their debit/credit cards on the table and various folk from said table have taken the card up to order drinks. Sometimes card used multiple times in half an hour. How the fork they balance their accounts I don't know; again they probably don't. As for card use abroad, reluctantly I have had to get used to using them but the damn thing never goes out of my sight. If they want to ' take it through the back ' to verify payment etc. then it's over my dead body. In Turkey once we even had the Polis in because I wouldn't let the card out of my sight. Like Islay, after a career in banking, I don't trust the system.

Loads of modern things I just don't use......CC, pay at pump, e ticks I loathe, pay with nothing by phone, use cash if at all possible.

    I just prefer it.

Been using it as long as I can remember - current account, savings account and business account - never a problem.

I rarely use cash but try to keep £30 - £50 in my wallet in case I meet a dinosaur, I worry more about losing that cash than I do about internet banking fraud.
