With one notable exception ( Jimmy) never go back. He is intelligent but intelligent people can still press the self destruct button. He is doing that right now trying to implement a new style in the middle of the season with the threat of relegation still there. Madness. Personally I think Swansea should have stuck with Sheehan until the end of the season and rebuilt from there. But such is football that everyone wants everything right now. I agree with you that this will be a self destruct button for Luke. he will back in L2 next season. Not with us.
Tend to agree with all of that, although I give him a more than 50% chance of seeing out THIS season with them.
On any return here? I know I'll probably never see another coach deliver the same attacking approach I want to pay my money to see. But still, as partisan fans for life of our football club, it's no fun being sensible - and our dedication is the standard we hope they share (like JOBs tattoo). So the following stuff matters - he broke his contract / he walked out mid season / he took 2 senior coaches with him / he left in the middle of a promotion campaign / he left with problems that need fixing / it allowed an old rival to poach our talent / it inflicted a couple of weeks of turmoil on the club / he left the players guessing and uncertain and so on and so on. As a partisan County fan who doesn't have to care that his wife has a gym in Newport of course I wouldn't want to see him back. I'm with BFG in holding to 2 ideas simultaneously - he's easily in the top 5 Notts managers I've seen, I'll enjoy Swansea's losses. Thanks and best of luck to him in life (but not right now with Swansea
)
Who are the old rivals poaching our talent?
Regarding breaking his contract, I am assuming that should it not work out with SM (I think it will) you would want him to remain to the end of his contract? Seems to me that the club knew Williams would be off soon so the contract extension was to give us maximum compensation should that happen.
To look on the other side, how many supporters would turn down a promotion at work like this?
Not much to disagree with there. If he keeps them away from the drop he will be ok, but if he belligerently perseveres with round pegs in square holes he won't and from what we have seen he does seem to only know one way. The third goal they conceded against Bournemouth when the keeper ridiculously passed it to a defender who was not expecting it and than had no idea what to do with it was absolute comedy and just summed up why what he is trying to do mid season is fraught with risk. I wish him all the best but I would not take him back at Notts. Edit - and yes the football was amazing. I have never in my life been so confident in the team than I was last season. However we were non league and he had stellar players to work with. Probably also the best squad in terms of its divisional status I have also seen perhaps matched by the one Barnwell had.
