Shads - as said - on the brief clips I’ve seen then imo he’s not for us.
In other words - yes of course it’s a snap assessment.
But that assessment is comparing the player to the players that currently we ‘usually’ go after.
That is to say - tall, strong, fast, athletic.
Theres an obvious trend in signings - Byers doesn’t seem to fit that mould.
    I might be wrong.
    We will see.

Comparing Bullock to Thomas is just ridiculous. They are classes apart.

Tall, strong, fast, athletic? You’re a season ticket holder surely you’ve seen our recent signings. Cotter, okeefe, cadden, Kane, Connell, Dallas and Shaw do any completely fit your profile?

Russell might fit tall and strong but as for the other criteria he is way off the pace.

Not expecting a reply by the way, you have a well established tortoise mechanism, head in shell, once you’re challenged.

Must admit it made me think back to our recent signings to try and think of any that fit the categories. As you’ve pointed out, there’s not a lot in that list.

Pines could be but we’ll have to see how he adapts to England.

Russell is still a relatively young player and it was only a couple of seasons ago he was in a team that got to the Championship playoff final.
He doesn’t become a bad player over night.
And it’s plain to see - admittedly only in patches - that there is a talent there.
A talent that’s not being brought to the fore as much as it should.

Yes he gets exposed in midfield but I believe that’s more a case of how the team is set up.
    Having just one central midfielder.

Theres a player there in Russell - it’s about getting the best out of him.
Regarding this accusation that he’s slow.
I’d like to see the stats at the club relating to that - because it wouldn’t surprise me to hear he’s one of the quickest at the club over the grass.

For every stride Russell takes - little fat legs Kane has to take 6 😄
    Bees wings.

Town couldn't wait to get shut of him , so much so they let him come to us for nowt .

Presumably you'd agree that high end championship players tend not to drop in to league one on a free if they are capable .

Comparing the stature and position Bullock and Luke Thomas played.
So then - you believe that one of them wasn’t a winger and is a big tall fella.
    Which one is it ???

All the players you list are physically strong and relatively fast - and most are tall or tallish.
    Except one - Kane.

Kane is technically the best player at the club with a superb footballing brain .

Speed of thought trumps pace in this game and always has .

He dropped out of favour at Hudders.
Most Barnsley supporters were overjoyed when we signed him.

He’s dropped out of favour here.
Only because we play 3142 - and there’s an exceptional talent in front of him.
And because he’s not getting regular game time it shows.
IMO we should go back to 343 with Connell and Russell anchoring centre midfield.
Those 2 side by side would seal off midfield and so the central defenders wouldn’t be getting so exposed.

Connell is by far the best player at the club.

Kane ain’t no Pirlo - but he can pass a ball if given enough time on the ball - but easily loses it if quickly challenged. That is he doesn’t make enough space for himself to hurt the opposition with his passing.
    Take note.

Also he’s slow over the grass - he can’t beat defenders (dribble) - he’s not an anchor midfielder (he can’t tackle).
    He’s a luxury we just can’t afford.
