    The next 5 matches

    Gillingham H
    Newport A
    Wrexham A
    Crewe H
    Sutton H
We know where we are player and manager wise now. So what do you think?
I think 10 points would have us fairly well back on track for the play offs.
6 points or less would be a bit of a disaster.
I’m forecasting 8 but hope for more.

One match at a time. Need a win against the Gills as still no win in 2024. Let’s see if we can do that first.

I'd target 8 points as a minimum too, although I'm genuinely not too bothered about the play-off chase thing because I don't think we're ready for promotion yet. The good start raised expectations, but for me this remains a consolidation season. If we go on a really good run and surprise ourselves then great, we'll take it, but the promotion chasing thing shouldn't be allowed to become a source of negativity and a millstone around our necks. The bottom line, first season back in the league, we're doing fine overall.

Other than Crewe, no team form any better than ours - All to play for, COYP’s

Newport are unbeaten in 8 home games and are top of the current form table, Wrexham have won all of their last 8 at home, so those two trips will look very daunting indeed if Maynard can't get the first win under his belt v Gillingham and restore some confidence.

Think we'll lose comfortably at Newport tbh, I thought that last week when I saw them on TV, can't see anything at Wrexham either, probably a narrow defeat to a Mullin penalty. Really need to beat Gillingham.

Been thinking about this a lot.
In the last 10 seasons the number of points needed for a playoff place has varied from 72 to 77 (adjusted for the covid year).
That means to be sure we need 33 points from just 17 games. 2 points a game. 3 points at home and 1 away.
So these next 5 matches really have to deliver around 10/11 points.
If we fail to beat Gillingham, the task will be so much harder.

10 points would be probably as good as anyone could be expect, especially as we are still in transition. lets not be greedy !
