Everything that glistens ain't gold, and even if this particular owner is gold, their ability to shoot Wycombe to the moon will be limited by the so-called Financial Fair Play rules, which in reality weren't put in place to protect small clubs, but to protect big clubs from the potential threat of being usurped by artificially financially enhanced smaller clubs. If the football authorities really wanted to enforce Financial Fair play they could instigate a wage cap across all divisions tomorrow, but that ain't going to happen!

As kill-the-drum says, I'm more than happy to stick with our current owners. They will make mistakes along the way of course, but I'm as certain as I can be that their intentions for the club are good and genuine.

As for Curtis Thompson I always liked him. He was one of our own, gave his all and I remember one season in League One he really shone. The fact Thompson is now a Championship player shows how detrimental it can be to a club when you keep changing managers because it can also have a negative impact on players as they end up in and out of the team.

Consistency, stability and the right manager are the key ingredients that have led Wycombe and Curtis Thompson to where they are today. Thankfully having fell as far as we have ever fallen we seem to be moving in the right direction under our current owners.
Thats the annoying thing about that season we finished 5th - all the teams went on to better things than what we did

    Accrington - Reached L1
    Luton Town - reached Premier
    Wycombe - Reached Championship
    Exeter - reached L1
    Notts County
    Coventry- Reached Chamoionship
    Licoln - Reached L1

The most important thing about any move up the leagues for Notts County is that it must be self-sustainable, built on firm financial foundations that are not continuously dependent on, and propped up by, a wealthy benefactor.

The current owners at Notts are not blowing money on "top three" wage budgets and setting pie in the sky ambitions and deadlines. Rather, they're investing capital in projects that aim to consistently increase the club's revenue-raising ability, which is the best way for the club to grow sustainably and (increasingly) independently. It's a very gradual process with the potential for occasional backward steps along the way, but it's the best chance we have of achieving growth that lasts.

Nailed it Jackal! I'm glad we don't have flashy owners with overblown ambitions. We've seen boom-and-bust stories time and again in recent decades. We're finally trying to build something solid and sustainable, and if that means our progress is slower than those who throw ridiculous money about, so be it.

Spoke to C T in the street. (agree he was mucked about where Notts played him)
I think it was in the season before he was let go. I asked why he was not playing said he was fit but said the manager would not pick him not even for the bench. Do not know who the manager was but Notts lost a talented player glad he made it in a higher league.COYP next season.
