It's one of the great myths that Neil Warnock's Notts team didn't play football. We did play some very entertaining stuff, as you would expect with good players like Thomas, Draper, Lund and Johnson in the team, but we played it in the opponent's half and didn't invite pressure on our own goal. we were also very physical out of possession, such that a number of opponents with bigger name players didn't want to keep the ball for long, which negated their strengths.
Put it this way, there was a world of difference, in terms of quality of football and entertainment, between Neil Warnock's teams and, say, Steve Thompson's team, who really were hoofballers.
