Thread: Tom Weal gone.

  1. #41
I would be very suprised if, that as our GK coach TW didn't have a reasonable say in the signing of Stone. If correct then I'm sorry to say that along with Montague he had a lot to answer for. Of course it does depend on who was available at what price but the upshot was we bought a guy as our No1 and by the end of the season he was our 3rd choice keeper. Was TW responsible for getting Stone to play in the same concrete boots SS wore?, neither could command their penalty area and quite simply Stone didn't improve over the season which unfortunately is a reflection on the coach.

I'm sorry but if TW has gone purely on the goalkeeping side of things then, the bigger picture is why RM isn't accountable for anything. It's always "we" made mistakes, doesn't seem to have the balls to say "I" did. I doubt for 1 minute TW watched Stone told RM that's the boy to get
& we signed him without RM or anybody else watching him on video or live in games. If we did sign him on one persons recommendation then we have serious problems in scouting. Then again you only have to look at the signing of Morias. Wtf sanctioned that?

I’d view it like us releasing players such as Baldwin and Bostock because, even though they’d been great servants and helped us out of the NL, we decided they hadn’t done the job last season.

The goalkeeping situation was a shambles all year so it’s probably no surprise that the head of goalkeeping appears to have been shoved. We conceded millions of late goals and had loads of injuries, the best indicators you’re going to get of fitness and conditioning, so again.. no huge surprise there’s a change being made there.

Our owners have this nice and calm public persona but they’re pretty ruthless. SM and his team will go the same way if the first half of next season doesn’t go well.

Maybe we are about to sign a goalkeeper that doesn't actually need a coach

It would have been much better if the posts were about the 3 stooges management team leaving..

It is rather sad that some on this thread are so vitriolic about our manager.
If LW had not walked out on us mid-season then we wouldn’t be where we are now.
Yes, we might be able to understand some of the reasons for his departure but he failed to honour his contract. Not nice to say but true.
The board decided that we needed a replacement quickly.
SM was approached by our owners and offered the position. Good luck to the bloke. I think we should give him until Christmas by which time we (and more importantly the owners) will have a better idea of whether their appointment was the right one or not.
If it goes belly up the responsibility lies with the clubs’ board.

Don't be silly!. This doesn't fit in with the agenda that some here want SM and his stooges gone. I think personally they would rather see us lose every week than God forbid SM be a success.!!Crazy i know !.
