According to this ‘expert’ in Suffolk every time there is heavy rain in Dundee the manhole covers in Dens Road are blown off due to the volume of water in the Dens Road drains.
If this ‘expert’ is correct then why has Nelmsy not complained to Scottish Water and Dundee City Council about the drainage problems in Dens Road.
Islay it's nothing to do with Scottish water, the dens rd drains or anything outwith the control of Nelmsy apart from the wetter than normal weather.

They didn't put the undersoil heating in deep enough when installed and as they have skimmed the pitch every other year the problem has become increasingly worse.

    It's been neglect.....nothing else.

Thinking about playing all our games away, we will probably now have to play Annan on an artificial as our home game, they are a much better team on artificial.

Now I'm no running scared of Annan but winning the group as one of the best 3 winners makes a significant difference to who you get in last 16......ie possibly Falkirk instead of Celtic.......and we will lessen our chances of doing so by not having a pitch ready in time.

Dundee, being built on a hill, has many burns that run underground.
Most of the burns now run through sewers, but Dens road has not been converted to a sewer,
I'm led to believe that Scottish water said it was too costly to change.
Yiniteds drains are on Sandemen st, so they have no problem.
when there is a high tide, all these burns back up and this causes floods.
When Peter Marr was at DENS, he was informed that holding tanks were required if they rebuilt the DERRY.
Think the last sewer to be installed was on Lochee RD for the scourinburn.

Person who installed it said ( and I'm not sure if true ) you do not need undersoil heating for spl now and blasting ( making the pipes full of holes ) was a far cheaper solution......and DFC were offered drainage at time but due to cost declined.

And if I remember correctly ( don't take this as gospel though ) pipes were around 4 inches higher than the optimal depth, coupled with skimming a wee bit off the pitch every year has exassabated the problem.

Could it possibly be that consecutive owners have ignored the problem?Just when Peter Marr was mentioned I thought this may have been an ongoing issue that has just worsened thru time and if so its good it is finally being rectified but no before time.
Or mibbe just Nelms fault, ive nae idea just glad its getting sorted.I played on dens twice for school and it was perfect, best pitch I ever played on.Won both cups too.

Anyone on here think it may be the pitch and not the dens road drain that has caused the waterlogging. Ive read loads of crap from expert fans about why this is happening after a shower of rain. When reading various comments from pitch experts on social media and forums nobody seems to blame the pitch , but put all the blame on all the burns and the dens road sewer. Ive read that micro diggers will be used to dig under the undersoil pipes, not sure how that can be achieved. I have seen pics of the top of the pitch being skimmed off but think this new laid surface will look great but the problem will still exist a few inches below the surface. Non removal of mown grass over the years will eventualy lead to a build up of thatch which will cause a barrier to stop the water draining away and making any grass susceptable to disease. This is the layer that will be causing the issues in various areas and need to be addressed.

I'm not blaming Scottish water or dens rd drainage.

Just as if I was a dab I wouldn't blame Roma for being a better team. 😎

So in your expert opinion it's the thatch, caused by not removing clippings, that's the problem? Despite most of the clippings being collected and the pitch being scarified regularly?

Genius, you should've shouted up earlier and we'd could have saved six figures employing a load of amateurs to dig it up and fix the perfectly serviceable drainage.

I was assured many years ago by someone senior at Dens that the Dens Road drains were 100% the problem and there was nothing the club could do about it.

That person's a bit less respected by me now.
