“Lampard is a pundit” sounds a little like a terrace chant. I am not sure there is anything more to be read into putting Bellamy in interim charge than a permanent manager has not yet been identified and the search is ongoing. While we stand about kicking our heels waiting for the new man I will pin my hopes on the McBaldricks keeping us entertained with some humorous wordplay. I have a punning clan….
Too much of a coincidence that Pace meets up with Lampard and almost immediately an interim manager is announced, to me it seems the most likely scenario is that Lampard has agreed to take the job but he can't take over until after the Euros, so Pace has asked Bellamy and Jackson to keep things ticking over until then.
If the job wasn't going to Lampard then Mr Pace would move on to the next name on the list and get that tied up quickly, after all he's only going to be talking to people who have expressed an interest in the job, so there needn't be any undue delay and there would be no need of an interim appointment, that only makes sense if it's Lampard.
He'll have contractual obligations with the BBC mon ami, good to know that he's going to honour that contract, besides what's the hurry, this job is a long term project, we have two good people holding the fort, and a few weeks isn't going to make much difference to a five year plan.
What I also like about Lampard is that he has no sense of entitlement, he took the Derby job in D1, he's now prepared to take a Championship job, unlike Potter and Cooper who clearly think Championship jobs are beneath them. The more I think about Lampard, the more I think he's the man for us, I just hope I'm reading this right and he WILL become our next manager. But it's football, who knows, anything can happen.
Sounds to be nailed on I reckon. What is it with Pace and BIG names?![]()
For me I want someone appointed in the next week so there is a structure and a system in place - where the new man knows what he wants and what. He doesn’t - also if we have to sell a player o r two get them gone and re build.
All this someone in temporary charge imo anyway is time lost , the new manager can watch performances and see who’s who from the last two seasons and make decisions quickly.
I don’t want a rash decision mind but let’s get someone on with it sooner rather than later.
What I'm hoping army is that Bellamy and Jackson have been tasked with culling our bloated squad, get the dossers, wasters and those that are never going to make it out the building and reduce the wage bill. Then the next manager, hopefully Lampard, can hit the ground running with a streamlined squad, instead of having to waste time wondering what to do about the likes of Churlinov, McNally, Egan-Riley etc.
