"I think we all agree the Dens Road drain issue now looks like a lie. Your theory on compaction and thatch would be resolved by removing the top layer which has been done a few times over successive seasons without effect, in fact it seems to have worsened over the last two to three years - so that's total *******s."
I think the pitch needs more than skinning off the top layer. A sample should be taken that will show the depth of any compacted area, this can then be removed and re instated with suitable free draining mix of soil/sand to help draining and root growth.

    Think it's a drain problem.

I wonder if the expert assessment and analysis of the pitch included core samples? Hmmm, let's think - probably.

Are you a soil scientist, botanist and greenkeeper all combined into one DAB? Or just a guy with a lawn?

none of the above, and dont have a lawn. From early on the blame has been laid on the dens road drains. Yes maybe core samples have been taken, but the correct repair work still has to be done, leveling and re seeding the surface will look great but the underlying drainage issues will still happen if not resolved.

Just as if I was a dab I wouldn't blame Roma for being a better team. 😎

Oh you got a name yet......Kevin Holt?
Being a golfer you will be aware that golf courses particularly the greens suffer from thatch because greenkeepers do not like worm casts on the putting surface.
The greenkeepers get rid of the worms who aerate the soil.
The putting surfaces on golf courses are hollow tined to help with drainage and to try to get rid of thatch.
However there is always the danger that hollow tining can damage the pipes for the sprinkler system underneath the greens.
About 40 years ago this happened at Machrihanish golf club. The head greenkeeper got the sack because he managed to hollow tine the pipes for the sprinkler system underneath several of the greens.
It could be that the pop sprinkler system for the Dens Park pitch has been installed to close to the surface of the pitch resulting in it at risk of being damaged if the playing surface is hollow tined or needle tined.

As I've said Islay. What I'm led to believe.

They were offered improved drainage at time.

Didn't do it cause of cost.

Pipes not quite deep enough and every wee skim since has not improved the situation.

But like just about every conceivable situation with DFC, there is no communication so rumour, myth, lies and half truths develop to the point where the actual truth is lost forever in the steaming smog of bull****.

    Some examples.

The Derry is built on a dangerous contaminated chemical field that if released wud kill half the population of Dundee.

The main stand is rangers auld stand.

The lake at back of Cox was impossible to fix......since fixed.

Our auld stadium manager was respected.

Nelmsy knew what he was doing with the issuing e mail.
