Losing any player is a blow with our resources but Dykes was never likely to start in any of the 3 games. Adams and Shankland are still there and tbf a high proportion of our goals come from midfield. Would be much worse if we lost eg McGinn or McTominay in these upcoming friendlies.

The big loss is Hickey being unavailable, that right side is a headache. I believe he's played Tierney at RB before, not sure on that.
I'm hoping and praying that Ben Doak can be our equivalent of Michael Owen at France 98.

According to this on the BBC Stuart Armstrong is returning to fitness.

    Team news
With Dykes dropping out of consideration, midfielders Stuart Armstrong and Scott McTominay and defender John Souttar will also not feature in Portugal but the trio should be available against Finland on Friday.

"Some minutes on the pitch for some players, maybe a slightly unfamiliar line-up in terms of people starting the game," Clarke explained.

"Still got one or two, not injury doubts, but people coming back from a longer-term injury so we're careful to manage minutes. It's just a little balancing act to make sure we get a good performance and hopefully a good result."

Hopefully not our 2006 Walcott. The way Clarke plays means I think he prefers che Adams and dykesvtype striker for their physical abilities over shankland who lacks physique and pace but is a better player and finisher. Any time I've seen che Adams of late he has been poor and struggled, so maybe shanks will get more game time than Clarke would have wanted.

Right back is a real dilemma for Scotland. Made me think of when you had malpas at left back but he was right footed, you could have just switched him.

Malpas was right footed? Anyway, it gets right on my goat that folk who make a living out of playing football aren't two footed.

    Neuroscience Terry.
Some are born never to be two-footed.
Some are born with a left foot when their right foot is not even any good for standing on.
Of course you can work on being two-footed but it'll never be natural.
You say you can't understand footballers, even those on £100k a week in the Harlem Globetrotters League (EPL), not being two-footed.
Well there's the proof, it's not possible.
A lucky tiny majority of footballers are born not knowing what their best foot is.

Perhaps it's just me. When I started playing I was primarily right footed. But I practiced and practiced with my left and after a while folk couldn't tell which was my dominant foot. I used to take all corners using whichever foot was most appropriate and I was just an amateur.

Now, with a growing disability on my right side I've taught myself to write with my left hand!

    Lazy *******s. 🤪
