Stovic you’re wasting your breath pal. The ‘haves’ don’t live in the real world whereas some of the ‘have nots’ survive on a weekly basis like you say.

I’m not knocking the ‘haves’ as they have worked very hard to get where they are in life and fully deserve their professional standing and all that it offers them in monetary standards but, some can and do live a blinkered life.

I also have a member of the family in nursing, likewise she is disgusted with the management and the money spent on stupid diverse projects which is persuading some to leave nursing.Kerr is in a different world and it is worrying if he classes people coming out with the truth as far right. How far left must he be to have those views.

I work in education management and one of my key jobs is to recruit teachers. When you say we have enough teachers can you tell me where they are please?

One of the hardest areas we recruit for are digital and maths and have taken on some great teachers who have studied in the UK from other countries. Am I right in assuming that you are planning to stop these type of workers and instead forcing someone off the dole queue or sick benefits to come and teach software development or maths? Is that the kind of plan you're thinking of?

I get that - but the point in the thread being made is that we should shut the door on immigration as we have the personnel to fill our vacancies within the UK already. I'm just intrigued as to how we are going to fill these skilled/semi skilled positions in teaching, healthcare etc by forcing people who are out of work for whatever reason. As an employer, I'd rather have a highly motivated, healthy and trained immigrant to teach the next generation, or to care for the elders.

Be great to get an answer from the people who want zero net migration as to how we can provide the skilled/semi skilled workforce to take on these vacancies in the next generation as more and more workers reach retirement. What's the long term thinking for dealing with this?

Stovic, I've worked in the criminal justice system for close to 40 years and at one point was simultaneously representing members of three generations of one family who had done very little paid work in their lives.

My view of why families like that exist probably belong on a different thread, but in a nutshell, if a society gives people no hope and no opportunities then bad things happen.

I don't see those people as being a solution to the shortage of skilled staff in the NHS or schools. Nor do I see them as a solution to the lack of seasonal agricultural workers in rural areas that have no functioning public transport systems. Their criminal records would make it 'unwise' for them to be employed in social care.

Why have you posted this given that nobody has proposed open borders?
