One of the players that we so desperately want to keep is made club captain, he releases a statement regarding how proud he is and some of our fans can still draw negatives out of it.
It's like some fans actively want him to leave just so they can say "ah but you made him captain so you were lying to sell more season tickets" etc.

Notts sign Messi: "It's just a cynical attempt to sell more season tickets."

It’s disgusting if they are doing it to keep engagement up and sell more STs, what sort of club are we trying to get more money in and more bums on seats?

I know. I'm starting to think last year's promotion was just a cynical attempt to make the club more successful on and off the pitch. The owners should be ashamed.

I agree, they then had the audacity to continue it into the first half of last season. Sitting at the top of league two, just to get more fans in.
They soon showed their true colours though!
My mate was also telling me that if you want the new kit, you’ll have to pay the club some money. It’s just a disgusting ploy to make revenue if you ask me!

I cringed at the time, but there was a reason some guy asked SM about appointing a more inspirational captain at the last fans’ forum.

As for why now, people were moaning on here (for a change) last week about no news coming out of the club. They give you some, and now you’re moaning about it. Truly, like a team with Seamus McDonagh in goal, they just can’t win.
I simply don't think the club has been fair to Macca or KC in the timing of the announcement. Just need to read X to see many fans taking this as Macca's commitment when it's not. And it's all to push ticket sales.
I've no doubt that Macca feels proud and privileged with the undoubted honour, but it's not going to change what might happen in the transfer market. And l'm sure he doesn't want to send a signal to the fans and then let them down in the coming weeks by leaving.

Do you know anyone who wasn't going to buy a season ticket but now will because Macca has been named captain? I would be astonished if the news was the driving factor behind anyone deciding to buy a ticket. I just don't think that's how football fans think.

Macca is the most deserving player of the captain's armband. It's that simple. It was widely discussed last season that KC wasn't the ideal candidate and that a change would be good. When positive change comes, some people still look for a reason to make it negative. Unbelievable.

If they want to sell more season tickets, then get rid of the 3 stooges management team..

Neither that nor Macca being made captain will have the slightest impact on season ticket sales (a few petulant people may hold back because of SM but they will be in the tens).
