I think playing a "big" team generates excitement and anticipation - so that in itself is valuable.....?

So we can challenge ourselves against better opposition and not just teams below us, if I understand your question properly.

A double header v Peterborough. Ticks all the boxes. Playing a tough top of L1 side. It’s 2 x 90 minutes so confident we won’t see an abundance of substitutions and 2 decent games of football.

    Details below:

Peterborough United will welcome Sky Bet League Two side Notts County to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday 3rd August for back to back friendly fixtures with the first game getting underway at 1.30pm and the second at 3.30pm.

The two games have been arranged to allow both teams to get 90 minutes into all of their squad ahead of the start of the EFL season seven days later.

I don't see what we gain from playing any Premier League team is pre season apart from denting morale in our squad. We need to be playing teams at the top of L1 as that's a good gauge.

Having said that there was a rumour that we'll be playing Forest at their place maybe. They're just about Premier League standard, just

This seems like a smart idea for the final Saturday before the season starts - I never understood the recent trend for giving players 45 minutes in a pre-season game when they’ll be doing 90 when the season starts.

Brilliant for me, practically a home game (or 2). I hope I can make it and am blocking out the diary now.

We will be taking on German side MSV Duisburg in a pre-season friendly this summer – and 300 tickets will be available to our supporters.

The match, which will come towards the end of a short training camp in the Netherlands, will be played in Germany at PCC-Stadion on Saturday 20 July (kick-off 2pm German time).

PCC-Stadion is located on the outskirts of Duisburg, close to the cities of Dusseldorf, Cologne and Dortmund.

Due to the limited capacity, and following lengthy dialogue with MSV Duisburg and the relevant authorities, we have been allocated 300 tickets for the match – 200 seats (€15) and 100 standing (€10).

Tickets will be available to purchase exclusively from MSV Duisburg's ticket portal from 9am on Friday. A link will added to this story once available.

Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis. We're unable to offer a priority purchase period for this fixture.

    2024-25 pre-season - confirmed friendlies so far...

    Tuesday 9 July (7.30pm): Alfreton Town (A)
    Tuesday 16 July (7.30pm): Wealdstone (A)

No obvious agenda here but a couple of friendlies against Thai teams could increase the Fan base (from one or two in Thailand) exponentially. Most guys over 50 here are Liverpool fans, after that, there are a few Man City and Chelsea fans, but honestly, there are millions of young football fans looking for a club.
