Yankuba Minteh Being BRILLIANT in Feyenoord!

    Back to the football.

The kids' highlights from last season at Feyenoord. Yes even Antony looked good in that league but for a ****ager the lad exhibits all the qualities of a top player in the making.

I just don't see the sense in selling him to buy another player with potential.

My preference would be to keep him however if indeed al this money issue is absolutely unavoidable & we can get the Argi fella Soule in from Juve for 1/2 the price then so be it.

Obvs Soulé is doing all this in Seria A a considerably better league than the Dutch league. Also Soulé has a decent set-piece too.

I can’t believe we are considering selling a player of such great potential without him kicking a ball for us. There’s a few to sell before him, he could be the answer to our right wing problem, but he’s got to be given the opportunity. Definitely wouldn’t sell to a top 6 premier league team, if they want him then surely we HAVE to keep him?

I agree, you would have thought the expendable players mentioned on the "players I'd like to sell" thread would fetch as much combined or more than what we'd get for this lad. Unless we get a silly bid offered.

Perhaps he's gonna solve all the Right Wing problems. However we don't really have the luxury of trial and error if we are aiming to finish top 4.

He might make that step up straight away and match Gordon's numbers from last season off the right next season.

Bringing him in and buying a ÂŁ50-60m RWF player is going to raise questions regarding his own development?

Say we sign Mbuemba who's 24. How long is he going to be first choice? Will Minteh want to be 2nd fiddle to him?

It's not a case that one will sit behind the other with the amount of games we'll play across all competitions and we do want to have a Gordon/Barnes situation where we can swap them at 60mins and maintain the levels of intensity.

    One thing is for sure.

I'm glad I'm not the one making this decision, haha, happy to pick the bones out of it and criticise the decision if it turns out to be wrong in a years time.

The luxury of being an arm-chair manager. haha

Various reports now claiming that Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have both approached Newcastle regarding a season-long loan deal for Yankuba Minteh in 2024/25.

Bologna, PSV and Feyenoord have also registered an interest in loaning the Gambian, but at the moment BVB and Leipzig are the only sides to make an approach.

Eddie Howe and his staff are keen to integrate the 19-year old with the first-team squad during pre-season including on the tour of Japan to determine first-hand whether he is ready yet for the “demands of prem football” at this stage of his career.

    ------------

Seems very prudent by Howe and co.

However, if we're not going keep him this season I'd love to see him loaned out to Dortmund, think that would be a great move. A step up from Dutch league, more champions league football and then you'd think be perfectly read for us the following season.

That seems to be the sensible solution. It would be tragic to let him move on then find in a couple of seasons the lad's world class.

We need to benefit from him when he's coming into his best.

Aye, would be a big step up.

Mind, if he doesn't come here, we NEED to buy a RW...Miggy is, for the most part, not up to being a starter.

However, I wouldn't be gutted if he stayed. As discussed on another thread, we can't have stars in every position and very good back-up...not yet, anyway.

My understanding is that big signing is planned on RW position. Something like of Tonali or Isak calibre.
In that case Minteh is considered too good for the bench and not there yet to be a starter.
So, the appeal to cash in on him, making quick 30 mln, adding 80-100 to FFP is just too much to resist.

Not that I want him to be sold, but a good deal outside EPL, with sell on and/or buy back clauses is might be the smartest decision.
