A few years ago we had a visit from 5 Dutch lads and I managed to get them tickets for United at home. Since then any relevant footy news involving Dutch teams or players I get an email from 1 or 2 of them.

It seems the news in Holland is Weggy is off to Ajax and RVN is going the other way to Burnley, but like they say Holland have a bit more important stuff to sort right now.

Before our managerial vacancy gets all done and dusted can I just mention a couple of other favourites. George Villiers and Piers Gaveston. Both of these came to very sticky ends. I am confident RVN or whoever is successful will enjoy a much friendlier welcome at the Turf.

So what has RvN to offer as a manager apart from a neatly trimmed beard?

Difficult to say… he left PSV just before the end of his first season, because he felt he was not backed enough. They finished second in the league having won 33, drawn 10 and lost 8, having +66 in goal difference. They also won the cup and qualified for the CL. That is not too bad. But this year they went on a 26 games unbeaten run and a winning streak of 17 games. Breaking the league record with achieving 91points.
Did he not get the best out of them, or did he lay the groundwork for this season?
