Lots to be positive about, promising new signings, new pitch, fantastic new bar for a pre match pint, and the club obviously being run better than anyone can remember.

I wish I could erase the memory of the second half of last season, unfortunately I can’t especially with the bloke who was in charge still here. On Aug 10 I’ll go as optimistically as I do any first game of the season, but do I think it’ll work out for Maynard? Probably not. Do I hope it will? Of course, what a stupid question, why do some keep insisting people are willing him to fail?

Last season we had some momentum and the team got as far as it could go and hit a wall. LW probably saw this as well and got an opportunity to move on which was always going to be the nail in the coffin.

The 23/24 team was not good enough (defensively) to get double promotion and was never going to with or without LW.

I kept saying on here that January would not be the magic bullet and that the club would not throw money at it, yet people were still demanding they do. The club have already began to address the defensive problems with some very good defensive signings. The 24/25 squad is already far stronger than last season so there is much to be optimistic about.

It’s now time to forget last season its history and gone and give SM a chance. I don’t know why some people feel the need to keep mentioning BT and management team. Wanting the manager to fail which means Notts will ultimately fail serves no purpose. We’ve all been given a chance by someone in life so is it not better to support the clubs choice of manager and get behind him and the team.

He's got the 1st 6 games to me to show that he's the man for the job. He has the 2 if not 3 best players in our league. The calamity donkey has gone, another looks like being a squad player at best. He has worked with the core of the squad for 4 months last season plus a full pre season. Players have been signed because they suit the system. 10 games is too many. By then if things aren't going well, you get stuck in a rut, even after 3 or 4 games at the start of a season.
I bet if you look back at every season teams that got relegated, most didn't pick up a win in those 1st 6. It starts to define your season.
I would imagine RM head will be on the block as well, as he has tagged his name with every signing. "Our Head of Recruitment RM " said....

I agree, lets give him 5 or 6 games to show us what he can really do. After that we should have a better idea as to whether he will be any good or not. If he proves to be a failure, then he needs to go before he inflicts too much damage.. If on the other hand he proves himself to be a capable coach with results to match, then i will support him..

So desperately want him to succeed but think it's a tall order. Fingers crossed but don't see a lot of light.

If he doesn't succeed with the team assembled for him, then he doesn't deserve to be in the job. As i say, 5 or 6 games should be a good indicator as to where we are..

    It might be wise!

In your mind, yes. In mine has hasn't had time to do that yet. He might in the coming season though, obviously.

Same here. Negativity just breeds more negativity, so like you I prefer the other option.
