... Interesting view from Tony Smith this morning, that Hull are struggling to attract top players because of it's East Yorkshire location.
Doesn't seem to affect K.R though does it ?.

Well he hasn't got a clue, so I'm not really bothered what he says. He was lucky to have kept the job as long as he did.
And Leeds while looking like a poor shadow of their former selves, are surprisingly still a mid table team.

To be fair to Catalan they do attract 10k for their Super League home games , Toulouse would probably attract similar with a sustained Super League period .

Again as with the UK the rest of France is a huge Rugby Union country with a very good and well paid domestic competition .

The marketing men still believe there's a London market for Rugby League in the capital , this pre dates Super League in fact , the London Broncos were formed in 1980 as Fulham and we still await the great leap forward in terms of crowds and Super League establishment .

The truth is Rugby Union is engrained in English culture in a way League never will be , it's always the code to play in schools and universities and enjoys the establishment backing .

Rugby League was never forgiven for breaking away from Union in 1895 and forming a semi professional game and that still exists today despite Union also going professional .

However every now and again we've rubbed their noses in it , in the link is the final of the Middle*** sevens played in the early 2000's at Twickenham .

There's was a little bridge building getting done at this time and the Bradford Bulls were inviting to compete in this annual Union tournament , I suspect there was also some " putting the league boys in their place " as Union had become fully professional by this time .

The Bulls travelled down to Twickenham having played St Helens the night before and didn't arrive at their hotel until 3 in the morning .

They successfully despatched a very good Army side and Leicester Tigers before facing Wasps in the final .

The League club's haven't had an invite to the Middle*** sevens since .

Thanks for that Animal.. A distant memory says that I think I witnessed it live on TV, but not sure.. However, it was brilliant to watch it again. No surprise that they weren't invited again 😁.

Wakefield Trinity 46 - 24 Halifax Panthers

Lovely sunny afternoon to be out watching Rugby League in perfect conditions , once again the beer was hitting the spot nicely , tried the Madri which was very good .

The problem we have this season and it's happened a few times is keeping the intensity and I dare say motivation going once we've established a good lead .

We were 24 - 6 up at half-time but came out in the second half in third gear and Fax took advantage and reduced our lead to 10 points .

We responded , upped our game and ran 22 points in before the end .

It's as though we just have to flick a switch and we extinguish any threat our opponent's have .

However we are doing what we have to do every week and earn the right to be back in Super League on the field next season .

Yup, another good win for the Mighty Trin.

We were excellent in attack but not at our best defensively.

Two new signings over the line for hopefully next season in Super League , Hull centre Cam Scott and we've secured Oli Russell from the Huddersfield Giants who plays in the half's .

Both have played a huge number of games in Super League already and both are still young lads with their best years to come whilst at Trinity .

Barrow Raiders 0-36 Wakefield Trinity

Just to bring interested posters up to date the mighty Trinity successfully overcame Batley and the Bradford Bulls in the last two games to take Trinity to 15 consecutive wins , 30 points and 8 clear of second place Toulouse .

It just so happens we visit the South of France tomorrow evening to play Toulouse , make no mistake this is our hardest game of the season so far .

For a start it's going to be 37 degrees at kick off time tomorrow evening , Toulouse are a full time team and the travelling over to France is obviously way different to playing an away game in the North of England .

If we are to lose a game this season it's highly likely it will be tomorrow evening .

Although the Trinity squad can't complain about the travel all the way to the South of France .

Only gone and hired a private jet for the lads haven't they .

We are slowly becoming a class act to follow, Animal.

Will take time not just money to get all of Belle Vue stadium into shape but it's going to happen. The improvements already from this time last year shows how much progress has already been made.

In the meantime the club continues to strengthen the squad for our likely return to Super League in 2025 with centre Corey Hall returning to Belle Vue. Still only 21 with a good number of SL appearances already his signing gives us 3 quality centres alongside Pratt and Scott. 3 wingers in Johnstone, Walmsley and Olpherts already in place. Just another quality half back required then a potent back line in the making.

Would love to be in Toulouse this weekend but not to be. Biggest threat to keeping our 100% winning 2024 season to date is today's game. A few players still out injured so we will need to be at our best for the majority of the game to ensure the players can enjoy their executive flight back home.

Going to be a tough gig for the forwards Chop in that heat and humidity but it's the same for both sides .

A couple of our forwards are going to have to do the full 80 minutes I reckon with the injuries we've got although Hood and Bain are back today so that's a real boost .

I know the recruitment is going well for next season but I'd liked to have seen another half come in this season to cover the injury to Lino , Kay is doing us a job but he's not Lino and today will be a test for Kay , hopefully Gale will assume responsibility like he did last week at Odsal and keep us ticking over .

Could be a close one this and hopefully we can get through it successfully .
