    A Theory

The process of selecting our new manager/head coach seems to be taking an extraordinarily long time. Assuming they do actually know what they're looking for in the new man, there has been enough time now to cull the list of applicants, decide on a short-list, interview them and come to a decision. But they haven't, and I can think of only one rational explanation......they are prevaricating to save money.

The players are on holiday, the Euros are in full swing, at club level there is very little activity and we have Bellamy and Jackson keeping things ticking over, and they're on the payroll anyway, so the club can get along quite well without a manager at the moment and save around £60k a week, or a quarter of a million a month, in the process. For a cash strapped club like ours, what's not to like ?

    Any other theories ?

Perhaps ALK/Pace do not want to repeat the Der Kaiser fiasco and are building bomb-proof safeguards like exit clauses and compensation fees. Who knows?

Right now we have the thick end of 40 players on board and Bellamy & Jackson know them. Nowt to fret about I don't think yet.

Two year ago the club was without a manager and saw an exodus of player who were out of contract. Alan Pace appointed Vincent Kompany who managed to sign players who took the Championship by storm, playing some excellent football on the way. Most suppoters of the club, me included, thought what a change from the previous tactic of using the long ball.

Unfortunately we were clearly not prepared for life in the Premier League, and so an exceptionally poor season, ending in relegation back to the Championship.

Alan Pace now has the job of finding who he thinks is the right man to lead the club next season, it may be he is being a bit cautious in selecting the right man or it is possible that his choice is currently in Germany with the Euros .

There has been a lot of speculation mainly by bookmakers on who will end up sat in the Burnley hot seat, personally looking at the track records of those who have been mentioned there is only one who stands out from the others.

As it is something supporters of BFC cannot influence it is not worth me worrying about and I will trust in Alan Pace to find the right man at the end of the day.

I also have a theory. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much MUCH thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is the theory that I have and which is mine, and what it is too. by A Elk. I have no idea about managers but we should be fine as long as we don’t appoint a dinosaur.

Yanks who have had or hold interests in NFL clubs tend not to appoint dinosaurs Sir Outwood. RVN is our man. Watch this space.

My theory is that there is no theory. It is all off the cuff. The mormons were caught totally offguard by VK`s abandoning ship just as we were.
Now,they cannot make their mind up and by the time they do another club has scooped up the chosen candidate and the process starts again.
This prevarication is a bad omen for the forthcoming season.

If that's really the case mon ami, then we've dodged a bullet, we could have given him the job, but at anytime in the future, one phone call from United and he'd have dumped us quicker than Vinni did. We've seen what happens when you employ a prospective City manager, we really don't want to be employing a prospective United manager.

Best for him and us if he goes straight there. Or to put it another way, feck him.
