    Malik Thiaw

    https://x.com/CompsACM/status/167010...thiaw-milan%2F

Apparently we're linked to the German international AC Milan player Malik Thiaw.

Decent performance against the Poles from the view above.

Big lad, decent with both feet, reads the game well, strong, quick.

Reminds me of a young Rudiger.

Could be a very decent signing if true and the club manage to get him over the line.

That last line made me shudder because that's the line the previous administration used to trot out...it's great knowing that our new owners will actually be trying everything they can to bring players of this calibre in.

Unfortunately, the obstacle to progress has shifted outside of the club-FFP is the new 'couldn't get him over the line'.

    Indeed Ziperino!

The whole financial side of the game is an absolute shyte show!

Why does the window open before the end of the financial year if they want the Premier League 'businesses' to have a clean set of accounts? June 30th is such a pain in the backside. Once we click over into the 'New Financial Year' the club have the ability to operate in a more flexible manner.

Until the end of the month we're just at the mercy of the stupid Journos some stating they know 'For a fact' that we need to clear £44million whilst another says they know 'For a fact' that we need to clear £24million and then there was the camp saying 'For a fact' it's £6million and that's why we went to Australia to cover that slight over spend.

It's all BS and the Prem have caused this.

Their mismanagement of the whole situation is a management issue. 6 of 20 clubs more than 25% of the businesses they govern are in a state of paralysis and having to 'get creative' to comply with the stupid rules.

TBH if it were any other business sector and a quarter of companies were in similar situations the government regulator would step in to investigate the management practices.

Also, if it were an isolated case, a one off in one season, it could be dismissed. However, it's not, City are in the process of fighting the rules due to their financial requirements to establish themselves as a consistent top 4, trophy winning contender.

Whilst I'm not condoning Cities actions as I don't know the facts of the case at all. I do think why would they have to work in such a manner when they are backed by one of the planets richest family & why would they also take legal action against the people safe guarding the rules put in place to control club league positions.

It's either total incompetence, which would lead to the entire board of any other organisation being fired, with the potential for a government inquiry (even Fatso had his day in front of the panel for his nefarious business practices), whilst over at the EPL it's business as usual.

If it isn't a case of total incompetence, then the EPL board of directors are complicit in the anti-competitive manipulation of the league and the teams who play in to control who the winners are. This is tinfoil hat, conspiracy stuff. However, it is also far more sinister and if true then there should be questions asked by the 'other 14' including NUFC and the subsequent relegated clubs who's businesses have been directly cheated as a result of any nepotism.

Either way you cut it, there needs to be sweeping changes to clean things up.

Otherwise the American groups who are slowly creeping into the ownership majority will soon have us playing 4 quarters and dilluting the game to a point where the stands will be empty and the last shred of community soul will be ripped from our national heritage, our birth right, our gift to the world of sport. Football.

Given Chelsea and Villa’s creative cross sale of academy players, I can see the FFP financial year ending before the window opens from next season.

It should all be completely clear and transparent. All this nonsense of multiple dates & windows.

You need to be a financial expert with decades of experience as a qualified chartered accountant to understand what has happened with the financial rules.

Accounting is annoying enough. I hate doing the accounts at the end of the tax year, I want to punch my accountant in the head when she starting talking about terms that seem insane.

It should be money in - money out = taxable profit

However, my accountant is a rather petite lady, very smart and I'm pleased she takes care of everything because it just winds me up.

We turn over a lot of money but nothing like the money a Premier League football team generates and we're not bound by all these insane anti-competition rules.

This is supported to be football, 22 men and a ball. Not some super boring version of the boring show Suits.

    I quite liked Suits

Agree with Ian though, they'll shut it down before the window next season.

The whole thing stinks and has really opened a lot of eyes to the biases within the league.

Fine for LiVARpool, City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. to see their youngster for big money but when it's one of the other 14 it suddenly becomes a massive deal and warning letters sent out.

Man Utd put in a low ball offer for Braithwaite because they were convinced that Everton would have no choice.

TBH never seen a single episode of the show. Just snippets on YouTube shorts when doom scrolling at one airport or another waiting for a flight to Baghdad, Riyadh, Dubai, Muskat or back home to Doha.

Such a glamorous life I live. When I go senile I'll be babbling incoherent bilingual departure lounge announcements. haha

I guess it comes back to 'what do the Leagues and Uefa want?

My understanding is that they want all leagues and European competitions to be 'more competitive', to develop the game in the weaker leagues, generate more fans, more interest and ultimately have a richer continental football culture.

With the key focuses on 'Grass roots development' - getting young local talent into the game in their specific region.
To then grow that talent into top quality professionals which can add value to their local club and national leagues.

This is where the whole PSR/FFP nonsense falls apart.

If that were the case, a player developed in an academy would be of more value in the first team of the club who invested in them than their sale value, as a line item on the end of year accounts, would be.

2 things had occurred due to these rules being put in place.

1 - Rich clubs hoarding all the top young talent.

They have the option to turn them into free first team players if good enough or they have all the next gen top talent on their books so sell off at will to ensure they maintain dominance over their respective leagues.

When the EPL & FA changed the academy system to Tiers A,B,C and the Mackems got an A and we got a B, it was clear that there was some shady shyt going on.

Whilst I appreciate development of youth potential is of paramount importance to the game, it has given the wealthier clubs yet another advantage by controlling the future of players and profiting from their future value.

If the Governing bodies were really serious about player welfare and development money would be spent on lower league and local clubs like the Wallsend Boys club and the mighty Heed to use those clubs as talent farms.

Restrictions would be put on the number of players clubs can have on their books, Chelsea for example had a business model that kicked off the whole Multi-club fiasco. The blues had over 120 players on their books at one time with over 90 of those lads never even seeing Stanford Bridge let alone kicking a ball in anger for the club.

2 - (a) Sponsorship deals and (b)the Associated Party rules:

    (a)
    Saudi & the Red Filth:
The Saudi Arabian regime have been helping to fund Manchester United since 2008, twelve years! Then in 2017, Man Utd agreed yet another very lucrative revenue stream from the Saudi Arabia regime, 'the General Sports Authority of Saudi Arabia' in partnership with Manchester United.

    Emirates & the Gooners:
The Gunners' long-standing relationship with the UAE-based airline carrier began in 2006, with the partnership to now run for a minimum of 22 years. The deal sees Emirates increase its payments to the club by 25 per cent, as the previous agreement was reportedly worth UK£40 million (US$51.1 million) per season

    Sauid & the Bin Dips:
    https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...k-1794546.html
back in 2009 the Dips took a massive chunk of cash of Prince Faisal "At the moment we are looking forward to acquiring 50 per cent of the club's stake," said the Prince, who is also an honorary member of Saudi football giants Al Hilal.

When it's those guys it's not sports washing but when it's Newcastle United it is the worst evil in the world. The hypocrisy is so blatant it's laughable.

When they were reaping all the advantages, not a word mentioned. When the finances are directed away from them to a club with the infrastructure in place to genuinely sustain a long term challenge to the status quo it must be stopped.

    (b)
When the emergency secret meeting of all, oh no sorry, not ALL premier league clubs, just 19 clubs excluding Newcastle United was held to vote in restrictions on associated party sponsorship it was clearly lead by Spurs and Liverpool. Levy being the most unworthy of members of the Fraudies with his little unsuccessful north London team clinging on for dear life to their over-inflated status as one of England's football big boys.

The irony is that they managed to convince the likes of Brentford, Leeds, Wolves, Watford and Southampton that it was in their best interested to vote to stop Newcastle's new owners flexing their financial might.

We finished 13th in 2018/19 season under a shambolic regime with a no hoper as manager. The following seasons again finished 13th despite being the footballing equivalent of a blind limbless mute.

Our lowly position during that regime was due to lack of investment and ambition. Whilst I applaud Brighton for their recent success and great business model. It's hardly a bastion of the football world.

We're the 9th most successful English football team of all time.

4 League trophies, 5 FA cups, 1 Europa League equivalent title. Before City and Chelsea's investment we were 7th.

I'll go clean my teeth after this next paragraph.

The Mackems are the 10th most successful team in English football history. Yet I can't help but think that had they had the PiF buyout there wouldn't be anywhere near as much opposition. Setting aside our pity and loathing for the unwashed Wearsiders, they have a solid history in the game and by all rights wouldn't be out of place as a Prem Regular. (mouthwash time lol)

Brentford are as plastic as clubs can be, only due to their location inside the M25 have they manage to grow to such a success.
My comment is always "Take Spurs, Brentford or Palace out of London send them to Plymouth or Humberside and see how successful they would be" - short answer, not at all.

What Newcastle United represent 'The Sleeping Giant' as all the hacks in the media have constantly called us is a genuine concern to those at the top.

the rules are there to restrict Newcastle United first and foremost, shackle City from becoming more dominant and ensure on other team, Villa etc can ever truly establish as a mainstay in the top 4 and change the face of the league.

The upshot is that these rules simply play right into the hands of the American investors. Who, in my opinion are a far more pervasive species of owner than their Gulf state Counterparts.

The US contingent have designs to fundamentally alter the nature of the sport and turn the game into another one of their Athletic entertainment enterprises. Do my dying breath I will oppose that.

To come back to this - apperently we've made contact and offered £20 million and Trips.

They are unsure Trips will want to come and want a plain £30 million up front.
