Agree with this! Derry destroyed his confidence when Bart went by chucking him in at the deep end. He then came off the bench, did well and was replaced by a 40 year old goalkeeping coach who had lost it years before. You don't have premier league teams sending scouts to watch you and give trials if you're not any good

Yup, came on as a sub. Bart was sold just before the Mansfield friendly where Speiss was chucked on with about an hour's notice, had a bit of a wobbly game (was a friendly mind) and then we signed Roy Carroll but Speiss then came on as a sub during the season but I think Carroll was then on international duty so Pilkington was selected ahead of him. Derry was not a good manager

You can't even get your facts right. Could you actually play football at all? Spiess gave the game up to study at Uni where he gained a Msc. The GK coach was a piss poor keeper when he played and should never have played again after he stopped playing. A ridiculous decision by Hart. But still you keep going as I am in awe of your footballing knowledge as you well know. Come to think of it I've forgotten more than you know about football and what went on at NCFC but you know that already I'm sure......

We rarely see any players make it and those that do are sold off quickly to earn a few coppers for the club. We wonder why we don't attract the best talent and often cite " bigger clubs nearby ", when the truth is more like we will either not play you or sell you off and you were never going to be given a chance . That's why many players go elsewhere
