Trafford is not ready for the Prem, he'll take at least another 2 seasons of first team football before he's gonna be at a level where any top 6 club would consider him a genuine option after the performance for Burnley last season.

Also Burnley could be about to lose goalkeeper Arijanet Muric to newly-promoted outfit Ipswich Town. Burnley about to lose key man as newly-promoted Premier League outfit 'agree fee' for goalkeeper.

They want £30m for Trafford. That is not good value when the club can spend an extra £10m and get a generational talent, admittedly one who hasn't had Prem experience.

Just looking at the GK bench, I'm not briming with confidence that we've got enough to stake a claim as a consistent top 4 contender with the players we have.

Respect to Nick Pope, but that shoulder can go again at any time. As we've seen with Wilson and all other players the wrong side of 30, Shearer included. They don't get better with age and injuries are harder to come back from. If they every recover completely at all.

Shearer lost his pace.

Also the club have made it clear, when the 'right player' comes along they'll go get him regardless of cost. In my opinion Mamardashvili is that GK player. Liverpool and City both spent big on excellent keepers and that is exactly what we need to do. No time for sentiment, it's time to be ruthless. It's time to be winners!
