The Germans have got it right ,after the floods in East Germany they asked people of benifits to help with the clean up .
Only 39 out of many hundreds turned up .
Those who didn't help out have had their benifits cut in half for the next 3 months .
Cameron knew it in 2016 FFS and Khan has associated himself with all sorts of low life and he’s clearly anti Jewish - even at odds with Starmer over arms to Israel FFS. Maybe he should show more support to Ukraine than Gaza which we shouldn’t meddle in!
So is all this bull s hit?
Khan has openly associated in the past with individuals and organizations tied to Palestinian terror group Hamas. During his time as a legal advocate, Sadiq Khan served as the Chief Legal Advisor of the Muslim Council of Britain's legal affairs committee. Khan was a member of a delegation organized by the Muslim Council of Britain in 2003 to protest what they described as "indiscriminate" arrests of Muslims for alleged terror ties. The Muslim Council of Britain was placed under investigation by the British government over "irregularities" surrounding £1,263,000 in aid given to it by the government. In the past it has admitted to funding groups tied to both Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad and is banned from Israel as a result of its ties to terror. On September 19th, 2004, Khan spoke at an event which included Ibrahim Hewitt; Hewitt has decreed on record that adultery should be punished by stoning. Hewitt serves as the Chairman of The Palestinian Relief and Development Fund (Interpal), an organization which has been labeled as a Terrorist Entity by the United States Department of the Treasury for providing support to Hamas and acting as a part of its funding network in Europe. Despite the US Treasury's designation, Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn has described Hewitt as a "very good friend."
And that was down to an act of nature presumably whereas this mess was down to rioting and totally agree that those responsible should be made to help clear it up. The problems are identifying them and then making them do it but that example you gave is certainly one way. As
A few years ago when we had severe flooding on the East Coast and before the old Victorian sewage/drainage system was replaced, many of the streets and houses in our area were either flooded or threatened with flooding. All the locals-from young kids to pensioners-worked together to fill and distribute sand bags, make sure the vulnerable were ok and then worked together to help clear up the mess afterwards. My brother, who happened to be visiting, commented and how great this kind of community spirit was. I appreciate that the cause of the mess in Leeds was by rioting, not by a natural disaster but sadly, I don't see too much of this "civic duty/pride" happening there when it comes to the clean up.
Not had time to look into comments from his past, but in an interview with the Jewish Chronicle in October 2023, Khan called the parading of Palestinian flags, "free Palestine" grafitti and celebrations of Hamas "distasteful at the very least" and said that they were actions that would "sow division and incite hatred".
Khan believes in a two state solution and that he "thinks it is possible to be pro-Palestinian rights and to condemn unequivocally the actions of Hamas"
When pushed on whether he saw Hamas as a terrorist organization or freedom fighters he responded "Hamas are proscribed, they're a terrorist organization.End of. It's simple for me"
Obviously, this interview happened shortly after the heinous attack by Hamas of October 7th and much has happened since but Khan now supporting calls for a ceasefire given the deaths and suffering of the civilians in Gaza surely does not equate with him supporting Hamas nor make him anti-Semitic.
However despicable Hamas are, it might be remembered that Netanyahu is hardly squeaky clean-whether that is trying to impose more restrictive and controlling judicial laws in Israel itself prior to the attack, actively encouraging further illegal grabbing of Palestinian land or having effectively helped to fund Hamas in the past as a means of trying to prevent a unified Palestinian political opposition.
Most of the association with low life was before the Hamas attack. Might be good if he utters a few words from his mouth about the suffering going on in Ukraine by a mad man right on our door step. Sick of hearing about Gaza over Ukraine and we shouldn’t be meddling in Middle Eastern affairs. It will be our worst nightmare if Trump gets in as he will - no further support for Ukraine and a big love in with Israel - more to protect US interests in the region!
Let’s face it, the Middle East has been a problem area for thousands of years. It’s nothing new. Why they call it the ‘Holy Land’ is beyond me as it has to be the least holy area on the face of the earth.
